Re: random static while recording
Is your new computer a Windows Laptop? They tend to be missing the Stereo Line-In option. This is a desktop sound card with the traditional three connections. The green socket is where you put your earbuds or headphones. The blue socket is the Stereo Line-In where you would plug your music system, m...

Re: random static while recording
Are you going through a USB hub? Audio doesn't much like that.

Re: streaming audio
OK. In English. You want to play an itunes song currently on your computer into your headphones and sing along with it and record the mixture. Did I get that? Yes, that's called overdubbing, but you can't do it directly from iTunes. You have to move the song into Audacity and then set up the Audacit...

Re: 1.3.14 Beta record other channels while playing first ch
Indeed. It's called overdubbing and you can layer as many tracks as you wish. It's best done with specialized hardware designed for it, but if you're willing to peel off some of the services, you can do it with earbuds and almost any laptop. Down at the bottom is the earbud-only method. http://kozco...

Re: Audible Click at Beginning of Every New Track
I would not use the older "Normalize" for processing your tracks. Use Amplify for level setting and Normalize only for the DC tools. The newer Normalize has selectors for linking left and right tracks, Link them, and then you won't need Amplify.

Re: Soft clipping and hard limiting
in case I later decide to use clip fix Have you ever tried ClipFix? It makes me nervous when people start a project depending on the repair tools. ClipFix and Noise Reduction give you an unfortunate false sense of security. Both work well on shows that don't need them. By the time the show is so ba...

Re: Audacity not responding.
Is this a new, unprotected music file you got from iTunes store? Was it $2 a song instead of 99c? The older 99c songs had FairPlay copy protection on them and would not copy or move to another location or program. A common way around this is to make iTunes burn the song to a Music CD and then rip th...

Re: Import audio crash
Neither one. There's a limit on the amount of space your computer has. Audacity works internally at uncompressed, very high quality 32-bit floating, not MP3, so your teensy, compressed MP3 file expands to something like 1GB per hour. That's 5-1/2 GB for your show and with editing and UNDO, you could...

Re: I need help, Audacity doesn't record me properly
Installing Audacity fresh doesn't install Audacity fresh. Your preferences and settings are held in a separate file. You can change this file manually and simulate starting Audacity from First Birthday.
