Re: Freezing during recording, resumes with a missing part
I think we got it. Now slowly back away from the computer. What do you see? Someone singing into a USB microphone whose model number is... Have you tried singing into a different microphone like the laptop built-in? Are you recording YoutTube sound? Phonograph records? Changing the computer was a go...

Re: Recording Legth Extended In Editing Software
MP3 is a video sound format. It's full family name is MPEG1, Layer 3, a video format. It will genetically always try to land on specific video frame boundaries, frequently making music longer than you think it should be.

Re: Audacity failing to work with record player
with version 1.2.6 We can probably get it working if you stop using Audacity 1.2. Audacity 1.2 does not support Win7 or Vista. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/update.txt This is a generic How-To for recording records and tapes. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tutorial_-_Copying_tapes,_LPs_or_...

Re: Need 10 sec of song only
Is the real question you can't open the music in Audacity? If you bought the music, you may not be able to open it in Audacity because of copyright issues. Windows Media has a copy protection format as does iTunes.

Re: How Can I Rip / Record only Audio on a DVD -RW Video
If you have a modern car, it may play Data CDs with MP3 music on them. That will allow you to put multiple albums on one disk at a slight decrease in sound quality.

Re: How Can I Rip / Record only Audio on a DVD -RW Video
Few people use the RW format because it's slow and cumbersome. What you gain in the reusable media, you more than lose by the ability to go to lunch while the disk is changing states. If that's all you've ever used, you will be stunned at how much faster creating a straight DVD-R or CD-R is. Many ca...

Re: General Dev Question - Internal Name of Imported Files
The older Audacity used to name them more or less sequentially. The new Audacity has a numbering scheme that makes disaster recovery much easier and comprehensive. I think they're still sequential by creation time and date. They're not straight sound files and messing with them can cause Audacity an...

Re: Convert AIFF to MP3
You can do it in Audacity, but it might not be worth the fuss. You can do it in plain iTunes, either Mac or Windows. Set iTunes CD Import Preferences to the MP3 quality of your choice. 64 is just barely enough for stereo, OK for mono. 128 is good for everything and that's the Audacity default. Open ...

Re: Problem with tracks.
This happens when you set your computer to record Internet Audio or what's playing on your computer. Set the Windows Control Panels to record from Line-In, Mic-In or wherever your performance is coming from, not Stereo-Mix or Mix-Out.
