One more. If you're on Win7/Vista, you should also be on Audacity 1.3, not 1.2.

When you plugged the USB headset into the machine, Windows should have registered it and it should be visible in the Windows Control Panels > Sound. Is it? Audacity is a complete slave to what the computer is doing. If the computer can't find your headset, then Audacity will not be able to find it, ...

(the manufacturers are doing this to try to thwart piracy) And in addition, recording music playing on your computer reduces the stability of the machine. It's one reason you can't do this on a Mac at all without additional software. Win7 and Vista machines are business and corporate communications...

Audacity doesn't have "trial" versions. Uninstall what you have (if it lets you) and install Audacity 1.3 from here.

Can you press "mute" on the music track (to the left) and play your voice track only?I also added the instrumental to the song I was singing so I could mash them together.
