One more. If you're on Win7/Vista, you should also be on Audacity 1.3, not 1.2.

Re: it won't record my voice! already checked the help threa

When you plugged the USB headset into the machine, Windows should have registered it and it should be visible in the Windows Control Panels > Sound. Is it? Audacity is a complete slave to what the computer is doing. If the computer can't find your headset, then Audacity will not be able to find it, ...

It's one reason you can't do this on a Mac at all without additional software. Win7 and Vista machines are business and corporate communications...

Re: Opening a file from a itouch

There is no iTouch. Are we talking about personal recordings you made on your Apple iPod Touch? Almost without doubt those are made with Apple AAC compression. Re: When I auto tune my voice it auto tunes my instrumental?

I also added the instrumental to the song I was singing so I could mash them together.
Can you press "mute" on the music track (to the left) and play your voice track only?

Re: analyze dynamic range?

I"d be listening on a good quality sound system or headphones once while paying attention and once again without -- like doing dishes. If you suddenly notice it's awfully quiet or suddenly have to pay attention because the show got louder, then you have your answer. I personally use Chris's Com...

Re: Bad distortion while playing a record

Unless you have a really old machine, you should probably be using Audacity 1.3, not 1.2. You can install both versions. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/update.txt Then have a read through this. It's in rewrite, but the main points are there. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/windowsRecording.ht...
