Re: 4 channel Audio Files
There were some interesting discussions about this problem, but let me jump ahead for a minute. Say you do produce a four channel WAV file. Then what? Listening or managing four channel sound files isn't easy. Audacity will not play them back and most sound cards won't know what to do. This is relev...

Re: record to W.M.P and not AUP
On the event that you did want a Project instead of a sound file, you need to be careful not to put punctuation marks in your file name or move or change the names of anything after you finish. Audacity Projects are in two parts, the aup manager file and the _data folder. Did you get both of those? ...

Re: record to W.M.P and not AUP
The warning should say "You are not saving a sound file." But it doesn't.
To get a sound file in Audacity requires that you Export one.
File > Export > WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit PCM.
That should drop into any music program including Windows Media and iTunes.

Re: To select a track .....
It's not straightforward. If the waves are small and the panel is big, then clicking on the numbers to the left is the only way. There's no extra blank real estate. Just clicking on the waveform is much too ambiguous and your results depend on the last thing you were doing. Somebody gave me the skin...

Re: Please help, projects won't open.
I'm trying to follow this. I saved the project, made a copy of the project, and opened the copy in order to edit it. You can't make a simple file copy of an Audacity Project. You have to be in Audacity and Save the Project As two different names. File > Save Project As... > TuesdayMusic File > Save ...

Re: Audacity puts"trial" in recording
So you're recording the software package that allows you to record internet radio shows. They're right. You should try to do that in your Windows settings before you use them. You can also use Total Recorder, or FreeCorder. If you don't use any of those tricks or turn them off in Windows Control Pan...

Re: How do I edit using [ and ] ?
I think the newer Audacity has the ability to select an Interval, too, but I don't know that much about that tool. You should be in Audacity 1.3 for all these tricks, not 1.2.

You can carefully set Labels (Control-B or Command-B) at the exact two points. Then zoom out and select between the two labels. The labels become sticky or magnetic and make it easy to select them.

Re: Recording 2 inputs at the same time?
Right. And Audacity cannot record from two different inputs. You probably can't get Windows to switch to two different inputs at the same time, either. You can make two USB microphones "look like" one by creating a third device called an Aggregate Device and record from that, but not one a...
