Re: Newbie needs help!!!
Normalize has an unfortunate collection of tools. Only use the tool that removes DC, not the one that tries to set sound levels. The latest Audacity has addressed that problem, but the older ones didn't. This is what we're trying to fix. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/DCOffset.jpg Almost any dev...

Re: Newbie needs help!!!
I import a beat sample made with DubTurbo2.0. Is it an MP3? Step One. Never do production in MP3. See if you can save the sample as a WAV or AIFF. The timing problem should go away when you do that. Then, before you copy, apply Normalize > Remove DC Level. Magnify the two ends of the sample and mak...

Re: Audacity puts"trial" in recording
Ugh, the sneaky b*st*rds... The Home Consumer is not the target for these machines. They are business machines and Mix-Out can cause machine instability if used indescriminately or interfere with corporate networking, conferencing, and content management. It makes perfect business sense to leave th...

Re: Echo....not wanted.
Those two unlikely players are the grand masters at honky-tonk and rag time. They're the most fun when there's two piano's available, but they don't need two... So you are clearly Recording Music Playing on the Computer like it says in the WIKI instructions. That's almost always a Windows Control Pa...

Re: Playing a track with the arrow keys
Should we put it in the wishlist? Let's figure out what you're wishing for first. If we had a feature in the older Audacity that's no longer there and it's useful to you, we need to nail down exactly what's happening so we can reproduce it. Play Scrubbing is a highly requested feature and insanely ...

Re: Suddenly Lost Sound
Algoriddim Djay app. It would be perfectly logical for a DJ application to "volunteer" to manage your turntable "to help you." What happens if you uninstall the DJ application? Drag it temporarily to the Trash or an external drive and then disconnect it. Restart the computer. Koz

Re: Beta 1.3.13 Not recording streaming audio
just security updates. That you know of. You should go into Windows Control Panels > Sound > Recording and make sure it's still set to Stereo-Mix, Mix-Out, or What-U-Hear. Those are the devices (different on different computers) that allow the Record and Playback side of the computer to run at once...

Re: Podcasting with two microphones. Echoing problem.
You might figure out the polar patterns of your microphones and put yourselves in each other's nulls. Cardioid microphones tend to have a good "hole" right behind them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardioid_microphone#Capsule_design_and_directivity So if you talk into the broad peak and he...

Re: Podcasting with two microphones. Echoing problem.
It may actually be worse than that. Your microphone may picking up your partner's voice from the walls. Room echoes are deadly. Echoes are also one of the permanent fatal problems. No software cure. The grownups do shows like this in a room with no echoes and then they use directional microphones in...
