Probably the same no-model-number microphone I have. Mine only works if you set Audacity for Mono, not stereo in preferences. 44100, 16-bit.

Re: CENTRALISING AUDIO OUTPUT
In Audacity 1.3, Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono and Audacity will mix left and right to produce a "real" mono track which will play equally to both stereo speakers. If you need two tracks in "stereo" configuration, Duplicate the mono track (Control-D or Command-D) and using the dr...

Re: replace section of background
I think I would import the new sounds on a second track underneath the first. Then use the Time Shift Tool (sideways black arrows) to place the work and through careful magnification and editing, match the plug with the hole, or the envelope tool (white arrows and bent blue line) to fade out the old...

Re: Audacity 3.12 keeps losing connection to my device drive
Does is consistently show up in Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input? If it vanishes from there, then the machine may be losing communications through either a bad cable, connection or defective equipment. If System Preferences can see it, but the rest of the machine can't, then you...

Re: Need a tip for looping on one clip please
You can tell by the people rushing to your aid that it's difficult or impossible to do that in Audacity. Audacity does not do production in real time.

Re: playback
Audacity Preferences > Recording > [X] Playthrough. You may need to restart Audacity.
Also select [X] Overdubbing to hear your old tracks while you record new ones.

Re: Question regarding looped playback
It's a little devious, but copy the work and paste it onto a second track. Audacity will play both of them at once unless prevented. Then change only one track by sliding with Time Shift Tool (sideways black arrows) and editing until there is a perfect hand-off when Audacity rolls over the boundary ...

Re: export issue, saving as .wav but exported as 'file'
the ones that successfully were exported now show Wave Sound (.wav) That's exactly what we're expecting, yes. I went ahead and re-exported it The elves live all over earth, so it can take several hours for the right one to roll around. Is that a dot between the o and the C? Do not put punctuation m...
