Re: Audio out cut when recording?
You should go into Audacity Preferences > Recording and disable "Playthrough." You can still hear all the tracks on playback, but the feedback howling should be gone. You can also use headphones... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/wynonna2.jpg Nobody does studio recording with speakers on. Koz

Re: Producing audio CDs which work universally.????
You can buy blank disks so cheap they have a bad dye layer. Drop by an office supply store and by a short stack or package of Sony, TDK, Memorex or other brand disks and try that. Do not use disks labeled "Hi-Q." Also, do not let your CD burner go full steam. If you have trouble talking on...
Re: recording
You can press the "P" key to pause recording. So P, Control-B will do what you want. Koz
Re: recording
Audacity doesn't have "markers," but it does have Labels. Control-B on Windows. Not only will a label be placed, but the system allows you to type inside the label on the fly as a memory jogger.

Re: Producing audio CDs which work universally.????
The magic phrase is Music CD instead of Data CD. Music CD is a special music format that the CD player in your car will recognize. It takes Music CD Authoring Software like iTunes or newer Windows Media or others. Smaller laptop computers hate sticky labels. The first time you pull one of those into...

Re: Audacity picks up people talking
I have no idea why it's happening. I do. You're trying to record work on an unshielded computer next to a powerful radio station. Look around you for very tall red and white towers -- any number from one to six. http://www.insidesocal.com/history/2009/10/knx-radio-towers.html The solution is to get...

Re: Audacity trying to access the wrong data file
That's what you may think you did, but I bet a trip through the AUP file says otherwise. AUP is a text file. You can open it up in Notepad or Wordpad and read it. The first line or two will tell you what the show thinks it's name is. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup1.jpg Note in line 2 that my sho...

Re: Workflow 2
You can use the magnifier tools and the Label tool. Drag-select a portion of the show around where you want one edit. Control-E magnify until you can find the precise sound at the edit and press Control-B to place a label. Zoom out full (Control-F). Now find the other edit point the same way. Keep z...
