Re: Can I improve on what I already do?
Subsonic sounds like you have can be sneaky. Pull off the front grill of your speakers (if they come off) and watch the largest bass speaker. Play a segment with that problem in good loud volume and I bet you can hear normal sound, but the bass cone will be wildly pulsing in and out and seem to have...

Re: virus notice
Which Windows and which virus program are you using? You should get Audacity from the official site. http://audacityteam.org/download/ We had a problem a short time ago where our servers accidentally appeared on an internet "black list" of hazardous software. That was resolved and we were ...

Re: Stereo File to Mono (Let me explain)
Maybe Audacity just doesn't understand the file type. Do you have FFMpeg installed? FFMpeg is the software package that lets Audacity manage all the modern sound file formats. http://audacityteam.org/download/ Now you know why most people go for the analog solution of connecting the headphone output...

Re: condenser mic input volume too low
Does your microphone use Phantom Power and is it turned on? You covered most of the bases already, but you might have troubles with Windows Conferencing. Scroll down to the block labeled Windows Conferencing. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/windowsRecording.html Win Vista and Win7 machines are no...

Re: Please Check The Input Device Settings & The Project Sam
Dueling postings. I added to the first response while you were posting. You plugged your stereo mixer into the blue jack on your sound card? Is it the high level stereo input? We got a series of sound cards where blue wasn't what it was supposed to be. Read through these Windows instructions. http:/...

Re: Please Check The Input Device Settings & The Project Sam
You can go into Audacity Preferences and set Quality for 44100, 16-bit (not 32). Then go into Recording and set how you connected your sound and stereo or mono. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer_Toolbar_Issues If you have a laptop, you probably need to know one of two of these items, too. http...

Re: removing plugins
If you installed Audacity like you're supposed to: Go (top of the desktop) > Applications > Audacity > Plugins Drag the filter you don't want to the trash. I would reconsider using Audacity 1.3.6. The earlier Audacity 1.3 versions all had serious problems. http://audacityteam.org/download/ Koz

Re: remove/reduce latency while recording
There's two delays. Recording Latency is where you play in perfect time to your old tracks but the recording comes out wrong. That one's easily fixable in Audacity 1.3. The other delay is where your real-time, live playing comes out wrong in your headphones. You're stuck with that one. I wrote a thi...

Re: best technique for recording books
Do Not save the work as AUP files. Export as WAV. The fuzzy rule with number of capture files is pretty simple. Audacity just crashed. The computer went to a clean desktop and took all your current work with it. How much work did you just lose? Give us an idea of the technology you were planning on ...
