Re: No "USB Audio Codec" on Windows 7 Audacity software?
You may need to go into Windows Control Panels for that. If Windows can't find your device, Audacity is helpless. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues Any advice so I can start recording with my new computer? the old one works smoothly and great, but records/tapes would ...

Re: no export as mp3 option
Yes. The lame software changed a bit between versions, so you should go back up to the Audacity Download page and get the new lame -- and FFMpeg if you want that. http://audacityteam.org/download/ WAV is uncompressed and undamaged -- and very large. This is the format you want if you are going to do...

Re: VST doesn't work
All the effects and filters are still in the location and folder they were before, right? You need to do a little rain-dance to "reinstall" Audacity. It's not as simple as dragging the old one to the trash. Audacity has sticky files that survive between installs and you have to clear them....

You can customize QuickTime Player settings, too in QuickTime > Window > A/V Controls, but those are easily turned off and I never use them. Too much technology.

Re: AIFF Quality Loss When Exporting .au Files
You can customize iTunes playback quality. iTunes > Preferences > Playback There's an equalizer, too, that I can never find. Here it is. iTunes > Window > Equalizer Do you get the same effect if you open the Audacity Exports in QuickTime Player? Also, the iTunes Music CD Rip settings can be highly c...

Re: Audacity doesn't recognize lame_enc.dll?
I had troubles on the Mac side as well. I had to rub it all off and start over several times before Audacity would recognize what was going on. Setting it up manually didn't do it. As with you, the software is in plain sight and correct but nothing works. http://audacityteam.org/help/faq?s=install&a...

Re: Vocal Remover 2.0
Oh yes. Anybody can sell Audacity by customizing it (Improving it) and putting it on the market. There are certain licensing demands -- like credits and logos, etc, but past that, you're good to go. It's part of our GPL license.

Re: Multichannel recording
I was wondering if someone could tell me specifically what to do with my setup We'd be looking it up just like you. It's complicated because that's a discontinued model. It's possible that multi-channel operation depends on ASIO software support. Audacity doesn't come with ASIO. It can be added, bu...

Re: Multichannel recording
But I'm having problems to getting the audio from 2 sources at once. Unless your sources are two USB microphones set to Aggregate Device, you can't get there. Audacity and most Windows machines will not record from two different sources at the same time. You in particular will have a hard time even...
