Re: reset Preferences CFG file
Certainly. Save it before you Reset it against the time you blow the old one away and you can't remember how you set up your system -- and there's something critical missing. Are you proposing a Universal config reset -- including that Windows Registry thing? I can hear Gale objecting to a partial s...

Re: muddy cassette tapes
You need to be the ironworker. By far the best and possibly the only way to restore the tapes is to make sure the alignment of the heads inside the player conforms perfectly with the music on the tape. Not generally a job for the casual user. Do you have more than one player? You can try in Audacity...

Re: Input volume slider not active
As a general rule, volume controls affect the analog system before the signal becomes digital. If you plug in a digital/USB microphone, then the signal level has already been set by the time the computer gets it. This is a common shortcoming of USB devices -- including USB turntables. You might be a...

Re: Cant import background music
If you own the CD and you imported it into iTunes or Windows Media, it should still be there. In iTunes, it's Library > Music in the column on the left. You should be able to drag the music file out of iTunes onto the desktop. Then Right-Click > Open With > Audacity. I'm not a fan of RealPlayer, so ...

Re: Record from Wave and Microphone
You might be able to do that with the Mix-Out device. -- Record Internet http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel I think this will let you bring up two sound devices at once. This is usua...

Re: How to sync M-audio Interface with Audacity
Close Audacity. Plug the device in. Apple (upper left) > Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Select the device. It may not say NRV10. It may say something else, but it won't look like all your regular devices. Play something and your little blue ball sound meter should bounce. Launch Audacity 1....

Re: Help with a low recording
First simple step is Effect > Amplify > -1 > OK. That will bring the whole show up as loud as it can go without distorting. If you need second by second loudness management, that's a lot harder. You might try Chris's Compressor http://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plugin-for-aud...

Re: Strange electrical sparking noise when opening Audacity
Snapping sound like breaking a pencil? No that's not normal. Only when opening Audacity?
Describe in more detail. "I launch Audacity from the shortcut on the desktop and it makes one snapping sound just before the work window opens up."

Re: Need a little help please (WAV's Uploaded)
You need to not clip. Full Stop. Clip Fix is only for occasional red bar clipping and even then it's only guessing what the original music was. If that's the intro for a killer dance/techno number (what it sounds like), then it's eventually going to get a nuclear bass track added to it and the show ...
