Under what conditions do you get the sibilance? Harsh S sounds can be traced back to a bad microphone or MicPre. Best to get rid of it at the beginning rather than trying to fix it in post production.

Re: Random Click while Recording
If you really are on Audacity 1.2, you should probably stop. The instant you have problems with the older Audacity 1.2, we generally push you over to 1.3 from here.

Re: Strange attenuation of different frequencies
You could get completely crazy and put one of the noise signals through the system, find out the non-linearities and damage in the system and generate tools that cancel them to zero. From that point forward, the channel should be clear and controllable -- assuming no echoes and nothing ever moves. Y...

Re: newbie at automation
Chains is the Audacity batch service. Each tool available in Batch has to be written specifically to do that, so it's a long painful process and only a limited number of tools is enabled. I don't think there is a randomizer, so that would be the first problem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jrqa876...

Re: It doesn't record - need help
In Audacity 1.3, you should be able to use the recording toolbars to select what you want to record.

If that selection is alreeady Line-In (or whatever it is in Windows) then there may be something else wrong.

Re: Delay on the Vocal while recording
The only good way to make the live voice delay go away is not go through the computer. I wrote an overdubbing/multi-track paper describing three different hardware devices that can perform perfect overdubbing -- all the voices are exactly where they're supposed to be. I included two software solutio...

Re: XP installs USB Microphone driver instead of USB Turntab
That may be Windows-Speak for USB Sound Driver. I get similar drivers and module name problems when I use USB devices. In one case, I get the manufacturer's chip set model number instead of a microphone name. Try resetting Audacity Preferences to 44100, 16-bit (not 32) Stereo. Then close Audacity, p...

Re: audasity stops recording mic
Do you stop your computer each night and start it in the morning? I can't remember when the last time I restarted my computers, I just put them to sleep when I'm not using them. Shut down Audacity and your computer. Unplug USB sound devices (leave your keyboard and mouse) Count to ten and start it a...
