Re: Weird problem-household noises?
What are you recording? Computers are remarkably resistant to clicks and pops and other electrical disturbances, particularly laptops many of which run from the internal battery all the time, whether they're plugged in or not. Not so consumer sound equipment. I have a large sound system connected to...

Re: M-Audio Fast Track C600
Did the Fast Track come with simple recording software? Does that work? If the device needs ASIO software to work properly, then this recording will fail because Audacity does not use ASIO. Koz

Re: LAME thinks I'm on Windows
No, since I have no data on what's actually causing this problem. Doesn't that message come from Audacity? Koz

Re: Cannot record
the audio quality is compromised. That's polite. It should be awful. That connection is an enormous mismatch. That trick, mentioned in several publications including this one doesn't say that. It says to plug the Stereo Line-Out into the Stereo Line-In. It doesn't say anything about Mono Mic-In oth...

Re: LAME thinks I'm on Windows
Are you running Parallels software or some variation that allows you to run Windows software on your Mac?

Re: how do I set up for voice recording without instruments
The other note about where to place the microphone is in a quiet room. Nothing kills a voice recording faster than recording a metrobus or TV in the background or sounding like it was recorded in a bathroom. One of the production people at work has a closet lined with quilts to get his voice away fr...
