Re: voice editing help
You should make a sample of your work mono (Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono) and export it as FLAC format. Post it here on the forum so we can hear what you're doing. "Upload Attachment" from the tab below the text composition window. The forum cuts you off at about 1MB, so you won't be able...

Re: HELP. New to Audacity
As I understand this: You have different pulsing tones on left and right and you need to analyze them? The two tracks will appear the same until you magnify them enough to see the actual waves inside the pulse which will be different. Finding the frequency may be interesting because you will not be ...

Re: Won't stop recording off internal microphone!
If you plug a USB sound device like a USB headset or other USB Sound "thing," Windows will reassign sound devices to "help you." Do you use Skype or other conferencing package? Skype is famous for reconfiguring your machine to suit itself and then not always putting it all back w...

That's as close as you got to telling us what the show is. What, exactly, are you recording? BBC4? NPR-OnLine? Is that your band recorded in the garage? You're really good if it is.I am trying to record music
That clip sounds exactly like a noisy FM radio recording.
Get us close.

Re: vocals
You can get clear sound by backing up from the microphone a little. Very nasty things happen when you get too close to a microphone, especially if it's a directional microphone. You can get rid of the P popping sounds by putting a blast filter between you and the mic. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/...

Re: Cannot Export to .WAV Error Message
You're doing better than I am. I couldn't get 1.2 to run at all on Snow Leopard. Audacity 1.2 can be seriously unstable on modern operating systems. So unstable, it might not be able to manage the drive/file system. There are too many patches and updates between 1.2 and 1.3/2.0 to run down the list....

I was hoping not to have to use that. It wears out after a while and it leaves that ozone haze after.

Re: Recording only what is coming in through the mic
Is there maybe a way to disable Skype from taking over my computer's recording options? No. Skype's insistence on taking over your computer has been described as "brutal" and "vicious." That's why it's so successful. Have you ever heard anybody say, "I had my computer in a ...
