Re: Remove Vocals From Song
Is there a more effective option than those listed above for doing this? Nope. It either works or it doesn't and it fails more often than not. The tool doesn't really "know" what a vocal is. it just takes out anything in the left-right middle of a stereo song. Many songs are produced with...

Re: aud Files not playing correctly
Audacity doesn't save aud files, it saves Projects which are managed by an AUP file. A project consists of the AUP supervisory file and a _DATA folder with the same name. They have to both travel together to ever open. Double click the AUP file and it assembles the contents of the data folder into t...
Re: Burn CDs
Music CDs are limited to 78 minutes of show. It's fixed. If you compress the show to get more on, you will only get a really bad sounding 78 minute show. If you open the file back up in Audacity, it should tell you the length. Right-Click the file > Properties > Advanced it should tell you all about...

Re: no sound when I copy wav to itunes
Are you certain you're using Audacity 1.3? Which version exactly? Have you ever done a Verify Disk on your hard drive(s)? When you Control-Click on your hard drive and Get Info, what does it say for space left? There might be something very basic wrong to have this much instability on a Mac. That's ...

Re: Traktor 2.1 Recording to Audacity for Track Segments
Just to be clear about the Mix and Render step, while each song is on its own timeline, you can advance and retard the clips with the Time Shift Tool so they play in mix, overlap, and crossfade as needed. Somehow, you have to find the one magic place that doesn't sound dorky when you cut up the comp...

Re: Traktor 2.1 Recording to Audacity for Track Segments
Music CDs do not have "overlapping" feature. What you would do is segment the 78 minute long performance into distinct chunks and then tell the Music CD Authoring Program to reduce the inter-track time from two seconds to zero. This will give you a continuous performance and the ability to...

Re: EDITING: Removing specific regions from the audio spectr
Unfortunately, there is no hook between the spectrum analyzer and the graphic equalizer (it's a feature request) but when you launch the equalizer tool, the line in the middle of the graph can be clicked on and dragged. Add as many click and drag points as you need. Here's a very early one with thre...

Re: Lag with real time playing
That's Overdubbing/Multitrack. We wrote a piece about doing that. There are special things you can do to some Windows sound cards to help with machine latency. Scroll down. Recording latency you can tune out in Audacity 1.3 and later, but machine latency is generally fixed by the hardware. Sometimes...

Re: no sound when I copy wav to itunes
You didn't say the magic words "the green sound meters are bouncing." The meters may be a different graphic length, but they should look something like this. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_playback.jpg Note the green meters are up around -6 and the blue waves have sharp peaks ove...

Re: Why isn't my Audacity software recording sound?
Audacity 1.2 is not supported on newer computers. On some computers, it won't even start. My first reaction is to wonder how you got it to work on the earlier computer. Skype is notorious for taking over the sound pathways, messing up recording software like Audacity. What you have now is normal. Yo...
