Re: Error using the predefined sixteenth note constant
We don't get may programmers. They're in short supply. Are you comfortable? Do you want some coffee? Extra pillow?
The others will be along. They're eight time zones east of here.

Re: Recording a book with footnotes
The procedure would be to record a second and third track while listening to the first one. It's exactly the same process as overdubbing or multi-track when you sing and play to yourself multiple times to build up a complicated song with nothing more than you and a computer. http://manual.audacityte...

Re: Splitting 1 file into 2
You could do it that way, but I would do it a little simpler. Pick a place in the middle of the show that's convenient for splitting and place a label there Tracks > Add Label or use the hot key. The label is sticky or magnetic and your cursor will stick to it. Control-F or Command-F to see the whol...

Re: Edit out one voice.
You can't split out the individual singers in a mixed performance. Once you have them all together into one show, that's the end. Even if they're singing different notes as in Barber Shop, each voice is similar enough to the others to make splitting impossible. When the big kids do this, they record...

Re: adding continuous playing tracks to a single long record
I'm typing this between jobs. You should have the same number of exported individual sound files that you had labels. You don't get one magic sound file that breaks itself up later. In a computer file system, files will always line up according to name or date or some other scheme like that. In a CD...

Re: adding continuous playing tracks to a single long record
As above, it doesn't matter what the show is. Busting it up into segments is exactly the same. You should get a separate label track underneath your show when you start to add labels (see pix). You should resist the urge to create MP3s. MP3 is a compressed audio format suitable for portable music pl...

Re: Noob question
Darn good question. Can we assume a mono show and the show opens up in Audacity? You have a restricted fidelity show to begin, so some of the conventional rules don't work right. Yes, MP3 is a destructive processor and produces permanent damage. The trick is to make the damage invisible. Also, all c...

Re: silence audio without removing infos
If you want to place a silence and push the show safely out of the way, select the place where you want the silence to go and Generate > Silence.
If you want to cover up some of the show, drag-select the part you want to cover and Edit > Remove Audio > Silence (Control-L).

Re: Where can I download 1.3?
Scroll about half-way down. "..older version of Audacity...". You didn't say which computer you have.
