Re: Units of vertical axis -1.0....0.0....1.0? Switch to db?

I want to say that the default Cool Edit display is log. I might fire up one of the PCs and look. Koz

Re: Units of vertical axis -1.0....0.0....1.0? Switch to db?

Or, as I like to explain it, the default display is in percent and is handy for editing because the parts of the signal you're most likely to hear and manage are in that top percent. If you switch to conventional dB view, you find that you can no longer see the parts you're working on and you certai...

Re: How Can I Tell How Large My Project is in MBs?

I'm finding it impossible to avoid asking why you want to know. You can't do production on a hard drive with that little storage. As you add filters and effects, the project gets bigger and bigger and it's rough to predict what's going to happen. Further, after you struggle with that, you'll need to...

Re: CANNOT CLICK CURSOR BETWEEN SECOND MARKS

From very fuzzy memory, I do remember Snap-To not working very well in both directions. We dug somebody out of the usual trouble (I can't make fine selections) and they succeeded. So I opened a fresh Audacity and music and set Snap-To for 2-seconds, and absolutely zip happened. Audacity didn't force...

Re: Is there a way to remove background music?

They are reputed to work by people who have tried them. I have not. Beware of test clips. We got very popular by people watching that YouTube video by someone who got Vocal Removal to work very well by hand (not using the Vocal Removal Tool -- same thing). He happened to hit the one song where it wo...

Re: New user

If you have a powerful, robust (loud) voice, it will pay very handsomely to adjust the microphone or recording system so you do not overload, clip or distort. I only say that because once you create damage like that, that's the end of the show. You can't remove it. You need to keep one eye on the re...

Re: Cannot send Audacity file to a friend

You have to explain things louder. That always worked for me. You are perfectly correct that you need to send both the manager aup file and the data _data folder. We tell people to zip® the work and send the zip file. Unzip at the other end. We did have one posting not long ago where that process ap...

Re: Is there a way to remove background music?

That's Vocal Isolation, and you would assume you could just reverse the process. You can't. Vocal Removal doesn't just suck the voice out of the show, it also converts the show to mono. That's what kills you. Very talented people have done the math and there's no easy way. There are some money-base ...

If you have one of the smaller MBPs, then yes, you need the software that "knows" how to switch that one connection between the different jobs. The 15" (mine) has two connectors, but the 13" (my friend on 6West) has only one.
