Re: Help with background noise please
The essing may just be the sssscottish sccent I guess it's possible...... I know other microphones which do this, so nobody is shocked when this error turns up. It is a surprise that the effect resists correcting. Of course, nobody said you can't have both. If you have a bright voice and a bright m...

Re: 10 second test
Extra marks for making it all the way on one breath. I thought about that after I wrote it. I applied all three mastering tools. It passes ACX technical conformance, and sounds exactly like you. Re: Female voice quality - equalisation advice appreciated
I simply changed the parameter of the Filter Curve slightly to come closer to Trebor's version And you can do whatever you want, but know the ripples. The standard 100Hz rolloff curve comes built-in with the Audacity install, and it's available as a plug-in with earlier Audacity versions. Same curv...

Re: Help with background noise please
Do you have an actual newspaper around? London Times? News Of The World? Crinkle one up in front of your microphone. It doesn't have to be very close, but try not to overload Audacity. Make sure the blue waves don't go all the way up and down. No effects or corrections. Export WAV and Post it. If yo...

Re: Help with background noise please
speaking into the front rather than the top You scoff, but it's almost impossible to tell which side up the popular Blue Yeti microphone is. I found a very good, clear illustration of correct and proper Yeti usage—but it wasn't drawn by Blue. Noise isn't a problem, but you do have some very sharp-s...

Re: 10 second test
should I submit a fully prepared, edited, and mastered clip that passes my ACX Check? No. That's not useful. We can't take effects out. If there's something wrong, all we can do is shrug and say, "Yup. It's broken." Produce a completely raw reading and post that. Don't help it. https://ww...

You're speaking into the side grill just up from the company name, right?
She's too close, but you get the idea.

Re: Help with background noise please
That does sound a little odd, but I think there may be more than one thing wrong. Are you "diving for noise?" That's a common mistake. Set your playback volume for pleasant storytelling listening and then don't touch anything when you listen to background noise. I might apply Noise Reducti...

Re: Female voice quality - equalisation advice appreciated
Have you been going backwards and patching older forum posts? That's a terrifically bad idea. Most of the elves don't go backwards and you will just be creating two different messages in the same thread. Wait. I said... And then you said.... But you didn't..... But I thought.... I think the posting ...

Re: Female voice quality - equalisation advice appreciated
My ACX Test was about having an absurd conversation at a lunch counter between persons one and three. We were falling apart throwing lines at each other, but the person in the middle (scrambled eggs and toast) wasn't reacting at all. Person #2 would make a terrific poker player.
