Re: Audiobook Recording- Punch and Roll with 2.0

Audacity still doesn't directly support Punch-In, but you can set a label at the fluff point. Tracks > Add Label and your shortcut key might be different from mine. Audacity also supports Append Recording (Shift-R) but it only works at the end of the current track and doesn't support play before tha...

Re: Audacity automatically inserts silence before track

It's an MP3, right? Never do production in MP3. MP3 is a video format (MPEG-1, Layer 3) and likes to travel in even video frames whether or not your show lines up that way. There was one timeline setting you can change that will force your edits to line up so you don't have to worry about it later -...

Did you connect through a USB hub? Audio system don't like that. It produces crackling.

Re: SOS

Did you go read that section on Audacity Projects? Good idea to do. Audacity saves Projects which consist of an aup show manager file and a _data folder with all the music in it. They both have to be in the same folder or on the desktop at the same time. The show will not open with either one missin...

Re: saving project as.... file

Just so I understand this... You have three sermons from different days. You opened the first one and edited it for sneezing, pauses and other errors and saved it as an Audacity Project and then exported it as an MP3, we assume for the enjoyment of the parishioners. Then you deleted the original cap...

Re: Feedback During Recording.... Session today. HELP PLEASE

Audacity > Preferences > Recording > [ ] Playthrough (deselect).

Plug your headphones into the FastTrack, not the computer. Make sure the red Audacity recording meter (alone) never goes all the way to the right and the blue waves never hit top and bottom.

Re: saving project as.... file

It's really poor practice to constantly overwrite one single file as you edit. You can get days into the production and have the lights go out, the computer glitch, or any of a million other problems and that's the end of the show. The original shoot and all the editing are gone. No going back to ye...

Re: Alternative method for recording Stereo Mix (and Skype)

That's another technique. No magic, cross-platform, one-click method. Does that sound like a Feature Request? "Hey, Alex, long time no hear. I just downloaded Audacity 2.2 and it has a 'Skype Recorder' tool. Is that cool or what? You can set it to record to two channels or jam the conversation ...

Re: Feedback During Recording.... Session today. HELP PLEASE

Actually, you should mention what's plugged into the FastTrack. How are you using it? Does it still feed back if you unplug whatever's going into the FastTrack? Is it really feedback, howling or squealing? Post two or three seconds on the forum. Do you get both red and green sound meters on Audacity...

Re: Feedback During Recording.... Session today. HELP PLEASE

If you like to record internet audio, you might be set to record from Mix-Out, Wav-Out or What-U-Hear instead of the USB device. That's a mistake and can cause a feedback loop. Reset in the Device Toolbar. You can also get that if you have Audacity Preferences set to Playthrough and the microphone i...
