Re: Can't export a project file
Did you put a date in the filename? Macs hate that. Today is 20120424, not 4/24/12.

Re: tracking and moving audio takes,
You can use the Time Shift Tool (two sideways black arrows) to push a track sooner and later. You can also drag-select, Copy and Paste. Koz

Re: tracking and moving audio takes,
i thought that my next record take started on the track under at the end of the first take. No. If all you do is press stop and then record, you will get a whole new track starting from time zero. You then use the Solo and Mute buttons to only listen to one at a time. If your second track has both ...

Re: Recording equipment and Audacity
If you're on Macbook Pro like I am, you can use the Peavey PV6 like I do and plug it into the Stereo Line-In with a plain adapter cable like this. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/RCAMiniStereo.jpg The Analog to Digital converter inside the Mac works very well and I've been known to do some seriou...

Re: Recording the "inside" (small-diameter) LP tracks?
I can tell you the ropes and pulleys are a pain if you have to move the turntable. I recently got a new cartridge and had to go through the whole alignment thing again. I went back into the archive file cabinet to get the setup instructions. "If the cartridge weighs between three and four ounce...

Re: Recording the "inside" (small-diameter) LP tracks?
The Shure SME tonearm has ropes, pulleys and weights to compensate for tracking errors. http://www.analogue-classics.com/html/sme_3009___3012.html I have a 3009. The linear arms worked OK, but they tended to have motor noise unless they were very carefully built and maintained usually not worth the ...

and also installed the plugins file . Which plugins file might that be? Do you mean the "lame" and "FFMpeg" software? If you install Audacity clean from first birthday and don't help it, it will arrive with a slate of built-in effects all by itself. Do Not Reinstall Audacity. Yo...

Re: Recording Issue
A few more words would be good. You used the Device Toolbar to select the Built-In Microphone and that worked OK. You click once inside the Red Recording Meters and they wake up and start metering the incoming sound. Then you press the red Record button and exactly what happens? Does the Red Recordi...

Re: vintage cassette tape keeps stopping on one side.
How old is the machine you're playing it on? If that machine is a million years old the rubber rollers and belts may not be able to push the tape any further than that. Do you have a trash tape you can experiment on without harming the hero tape? Highly recommended. I think you can still buy blank t...
