Re: Help - recording not working

when I listen back, I hear nothing.
So far you didn't tell us what you're trying to record, but another program you won't tell us about succeeds.

When you play, do the green sound meters kick up and down?

Re: Ideas about feminizing voice recordings

Changing a voice into Something Else is rough as you're finding. It's a cousin to the problem of changing the varnish on a violin and you can tell it's a different violin. Your face and throat construction are just off for the application. There isn't a lot of hope past the slight shift you can get ...

Re: Information re Audacity please

Sony, Tascam, Marrantz.

The Zoom recorders are very well thought of. There tends to be a lack of used machines on the market because they're never out of work. H1, H2, I think they're up to H4 now.

Re: Audacity input mixer volume control doesn't work

It may be a lot more straightforward than that. USB devices have sound volume control on the device itself (ahead of the digitizer) and tend not to have them anywhere else. If you have a USB turntable with no local volume controls, then that may be the end of the story.

Actually, that's a problem because they're supposed to be on Sourceforge. I'm making inquiries.

Re: Information re Audacity please

The studio is also in a house but the room has been extremely well soundproofed. So they knew what they were doing. I have a third bedroom that has been soundproofed by the drummer who lived here before me. What is your budget? I use the very well behaved Line-In on my Mac and a Peavey PV6 sound mi...

Re: record guitar and/or keys

If the Device Manage can't find it, then Audacity will be hopeless. Try another USB connection on the computer or try the connection on another computer. If nobody can "find it," then the device may be broken.

Re: Information re Audacity please

Yes, but the restriction is normally not the microphone. Recording in a normal home room quickly fails to the sound of the cat ripping up the sofa and the 15 year old refrigerator pump kicking in. Then there's that Metrobus and traffic noise outside the window. Noises and echoes kill more home perfo...

Re: Using Audacity as a Db meter

Remembering back, I think the "real" total noise number is the square root of the sum of the squares of the two values, the reading and the noise. You have to add them in quadrature, but you will need to run the formula backwards, since you have the sum and only one value. It's been a whil...
