Re: Lost files
You can push a WAV file, an MP3 file, or an AUP file and _DATA folder over to a thumb drive, external hard drive, or burn it to a Data CD. The problem with the Data CD, is some computers like to produce an image of the work and then burn that, rather than simply using the original work. That doubles...

Re: Lost files
Audacity can become unstable on really small machines. Audacity saves snippets of recorded work as it goes and if you exit without doing anything else, it cleans up after itself by deleting all the files. If you Save A Project, the work will turn into an AUP Project Manager file and a similarly name...

Re: Unable to open lame or FFMpeg
Tell me how to improve them I would improve them by not needing them. I objected at the beginning to needing a password just to install helper software, but not the program being helped. What's wrong with this picture? The process is default and it's a security problem just waiting for the starting...

Re: Help to use Audacity
If you do produce the track in a separate program, you might run into sync problems. The sample rates for most video is 48000, not 44100 (Music CD standard). You wouldn't be the first to discover your hour music/narration track and your hour video show don't match near the end. There was one poster ...

Re: Help to use Audacity
You can use Effect > AutoDuck to reduce the music volume when someone speaks.

Re: viewing info
You may have answered your own question. Use the video recording software that came with the camcorder. Most video editors have scrubbing and it's a snap to zip through hours of footage (OK, not a snap, but you know what I mean). You point the lens at a clock and that will give you real time of day....

Re: viewing info
At "low cost" the microphone in your webcam is probably the best you can do. Some are directional and you can point it at the noise. Audacity does not have "scrubbing" where you pull the cursor back and forth and the sound goes by rapidly. Tens of hours is rough to manage in post...

Re: Saving Undocked and resized toolbars
Do you also get the "Welcome To Audacity" screen? Do all your Preferences Presets revert as well?I will open the program and all the toolbar changes will have reverted to their defaults.
