Audacity does everything internally at 32-floating. It converts twice, once in and once again out. Some of the filters, effects and tools will destroy the show if we didn't do that. Audacity is not a WAV editor.

Re: Interference when recording accoustic guitar
Since you appear to be doing everything completely right, I think we need to take a listen. Post a WAV segment of the work here on the forum. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=64936 I don't know if it says this in the instructions, but reduce the show to mono with Tracks > Stere...

Re: Is editing at a digital or analogue level?
Since you can't edit and produce in Audacity MP3 without recompression, don't. Use a purpose built MP3 editor such as MP3Split. http://mp3splt.sourceforge.net/mp3splt_page/home.php If you need extensive editing, filtering, and effects, you're dead. Either Export in WAV or one of the other non-damagi...

Re: Playback sound.
That's not to say that home recording is a snap. One of the longest thread postings on the forum was between us and bgravato (now a forum elf) on how to record his acoustic guitar.

Re: Playback sound.
While the built-in microphones on PCs rarely win awards for high quality, they're usually not blatantly awful. Even the bad ones have to pass muster as communications and conferencing microphones. I've done simple theatrical scratch tracks with the one in my Mac. So something is wrong. What is your ...
Re: Help
I'm guessing that's a SmartPhone® although Google isn't much help. Typically you need music management, player software, and a transmission system to get the music onto the phone. I understand (from an earlier life) that DropBox® can do this, at least on iPhones. In concept I would produce music in ...

Re: "What you hear" no longer available in Vista??
it shows that Microsoft did not deliberately disable this feature. For you this time. If you move up to Win7, you may find yourself using special software instead of the missing Stereo-Mix. Recording internal sounds and music gets in the way of business communication and conferencing and that's wha...

Re: LP Recording - sound distortion after 14 Minutes
If you start a fresh recording by playing a last track, it sounds OK?
Tell Audacity to record the built-in microphone on your laptop instead of the USB turntable. Come back in fifteen minutes. Is your voice distorted?

Re: USB Device Not Recognized Plantronics DA40
The default sound standard is 44100 Music CD standard, not 48000 TV sound, but it should not make any difference. This may be a good time to Go > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup and see if anything in there helps. The only other place to set things is Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Out...

Re: Techniques for sound isolation and suppression
You were too close to the mechanics of the bells. This comes under the rule of not being able to separate the parts of a mixed musical performance. You can't take the violins out of the orchestra mix (as a rule) and you can't separate the clapper and striker mechanism from this performance. That's t...
