Re: Crashes
The error log is for Audacity 1.3.14. Are you super sure you're running Audacity 2? It might be legacy internal modules, but maybe not. Do you stop Audacity dead between captures, or [X] out the current capture waveform and start a new one? Or do you leave them all posted in the timeline. This is wh...

Re: Issues with creating an identical second track
That creates a digital duplicate and you can select one or the other for management or editing.

Re: Crashes
When was the last time you defragmented your hard drive? Audacity will not manage live sound into a highly fragmented drive. Also do the error check while you're in there. Do you have enough room? Audio production scares some people how fast it eats drive space. Are you trying to do other jobs durin...

Re: Clean Speech
Oh yes. I remember the Systems people complaining about that. We've been putting off using OS-X Lion for as long as possible. They broke a number of things we use. My machines are Leopard or Snow Leopard.

Re: Recovering corrupted .wav files
This one? http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/CDR310 That's a serious machine. I'm going to have to sit down for a minute. I don't suppose the work is still on the hard drives? Is the disk physically damaged? Cat hairs? Peanut butter? Fingerprints? We had a temporary worker in the shop that never...

Are you an administrator on your machine? Are you set to "Make changes on this Mac?"
From the desktop:
Go > Home > Library > Application Support > audacity > audacity.cfg
Let us know when you lose that pathway -- if you do.

Re: Trim is greyed out, selections don't stay
If you're used to a video editor, you'll find that you can't easily move the cursor by typing time offsets. In Final Cut, you click and type + 1 0 0 0 [enter] and the cursor leaps forward ten seconds. No such tool in Audacity that I know of. Koz

Re: Trim is greyed out, selections don't stay
I think you may be working too hard. You can simply click, drag, and let go anywhere on the timeline to make a selection. Three actions. You don't need any other steps. It works backwards, too. You can get completely crazy by setting a label at both of the places. The labels become sticky or magneti...

Re: used to be able to record, cant do it anymore
and now Audacity can't find the device. If Windows can't find it, either, then the device has become unplugged or failed. It doesn't have to fall out of the socket to become unplugged. USB connections are not click-positive connections and any dirt, humidity, or oils will kill the connection even i...

Re: Recovering corrupted .wav files
Unless you can try it on another machine, you're not likely to get any further. The closest you can get to the physics of the machine that made the disk, or the newer the player, the better chance you have to recover the work. Start down the list of friends and relatives. I'm not kidding. I've pulle...
