Re: Adding track markers during live recording
You can do that in real time, but I see it's not obvious how. Or at least it used to be. Real Time Labels (Not Markers. The video people have those.) have always been a little out there, and I can't find the definitive guide right this second. It's going to take a little digging. At one time, the sy...

Re: Recording computer audio output back on to Audacity
unless you're using a mixer and a separate computer this works with good equipment Right. That's how we did it. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PandoPodcast.png https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PodCast_Studio_WS-600.jpg You may be able to force this to work once with very limited pro...

Re: Windows 10 Audacity: No way to convert 48 khz wav to 44.1 khz wav
My goal is to convert 48 khz wav to 44.1 khz wav Because why? There's a long list of programs, apps, services and systems that don't care. Most video editors, I would say all, will cheerfully put up with a mixture of 44.1 and 48 without even noticing there's anything wrong. What's the job? I mean th...

Re: Simple Audacity Forum Voice Test
use the Audacity mic level to find the sweet spot Not what I said. The Audacity indicators have to be happy. The blue waves and the jumping meter. Much of the time with USB devices the Audacity controls drop out. That leaves you with the control on your Scarlett. SM7B_Cloudlifter_raw_WAV The volume...

Re: ACX Check Issues
That's weird. The blue link doesn't go anywhere. This link should do it. https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audiobook_Mastering You can post a very short sound test on the forum and we can do an evaluation. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_Clip.html Read down the blue links in t...

Re: Simple Audacity Forum Voice Test
There are only two gain settings to worry about. All the way up and all the way down. Both of those indicate a failure, damage, or distortion somewhere. All the rest of the swing of the dial is set with the Audacity volume indicators. The Audacity bouncing sound meter should just start turning yello...

Re: Simple Audacity Forum Voice Test
6dB is a magic number. That's half or double depending on which direction you go. You bought a stereo interface—two sound channels. if you're only using one of the channels, for example, to record one microphone for voice work, some systems pick that one channel and we're good. But some systems assu...

Re: Trying to use Audacity to record Teams Meeting in Windows
This isn't fun. People who want to make very high quality recordings of multi-location conferences frequently have each of the participants and locations record their own voices and then send the sound files to a central location for editing. As you found, recording your own voice worked pretty well...
