Re: Audacity Already Running
We keep backing up to more and more basic problems. Did you get your new Audacity 2.0 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ ...or somewhere else? Who made your Virus Protection Program and is it up to date? Can you run your virus program in "thorough mode" where it makes you stop us...

Re: Generate starts its own track.
Sense when the entire track is selected? I know this is a juggling act between Auto Select when an effect is selected (a traditional complaint) and Non Auto Select when a generator is selected. A Generator is not an Effect. Koz

Re: noob, audio recording, need to severely amplify portions
On the first step, I drag-selected the quiet parts of the performance and Effect > Amplify > OK. The default values will boost as much as they can without causing overload damage. The second clip I used Amplification plus Noise Removal. I drag-selected a portion of noise only and made that my Noise ...

Re: noob, audio recording, need to severely amplify portions
The phone does not have telephone recording software. You used the Personal Recording software which only records your voice. There is a tiny bit of received voice in the recording from accidental leakage, but it's non-recoverable. Two clips: One with just amplification and one with amplification an...

Re: Record what I hear and what I say
What sort of noise? Maybe we can get to something we can fix. Kozit's the issue of the noise that hurts it.

Re: Record what I hear and what I say
This is a lot more complex than you think. Computers have two stereo sound channels; Record and Play. If you're doing multiple jobs with multiple tracks and pathways (Bidirectional Game Sound, Game Volume Management, Each Individual Voice, Bi-Directional Control, Microphone Echo Cancellation, Auto G...

Re: Record what I hear and what I say
I was going to suggest a desperation method of recording the voices and game sound on a separate computer, but I'm betting that's not going to work either because Other People's Voices and Game Sound are mixed by the time they get to you. No way to split them. Let us know how you get around this. Koz

Re: Record what I hear and what I say
Probably not. Audacity is a very simple program and likes running in very simple environments -- like recording one guitar or one voice -- full stop. Under certain circumstances, it can perform multi-track by playing one track and recording another, but that's about the limit. You can try recording ...

Re: Problem with slight latency when making additional track
That's Recording Latency and it's easily adjustable in Audacity Preferences -- assuming it doesn't move. If it changes with each show, that's much more serious. Now you're into problems with drive track management and computer internal timing and delays. http://manual.audacityteam.org/help/manual/ma...

Generate starts its own track.
I forgot Audacity did this. I wanted to add noise to a track, so I mounted the music track as the top track and selected Generate > Noise expecting a second track with the noise in it. Of all the possibilities, I got the worse one. Noise wiped out my music track. I know why it does that. I want it t...
