Obviously you should stop making mistakes.
Or you can use Transport > Append Record (Shift-R). The new track will pick up exactly where the old one left off.

Re: Lost ability to change recording input - how to get it b
Self recording is a messy and sometimes hidden service, and it gets harder and harder to find as the versions of Windows advance. It's not a guaranteed and normal service like recording your voice or playing YouTube. I know you think that's a vital and necessary part of owning a computer, but Window...

Re: RCA RT-21
RCA went with the idea that they could build a broadcast station with everything between the grill on the microphones and front surface of the lens to the lightning rods on the top of the Super Turnstile® antenna without going to anybody else for parts. I don't think they made towers, but they had c...

Audacity has Analyze > Silence Finder what might be able to automate this a little. Koz

Re: low input volume
Does this sound right, and is there anything to watch out for, in selecting the parts? Not in selecting the parts, no. I've only ever used the SDI Broadcast versions of this stuff, and I know that the interchange between SDI and S/PDIF - TOSLink isn't perfect. I'd be googling to find someone else w...

Re: How to override secret import-setting?
It doesn't just read in the file. Depending on your settings, Audacity also converts to 32 bit-floating bit depth no matter how it arrived. It's the only way to be able to apply multiple effects and tools and even damage the sound a little by accident with multiple, wildly different style files with...

Re: The Basics: Recording bass guitar help
There is a split between picking up your bass cabinet with a live microphone and plugging the guitar pickup directly into a digitizer/computer. The direct pickup cable is likely to be very clean and pure and relatively easy to connect, but isn't going to sound right if you like listening to your cab...

Re: low input volume
I would probably try to get the digital pathway to work for the DATs. The instant you go "down" to analog, the overload and noise points become those of the analog interface and I guarantee that they're going to be worse than 20dB overload and 76 noise floor -- possibly quite a bit worse. ...

Re: iMovie soundtrack
Room echoes are one of the sure ways to kill a show. An echo is the performer's voice bouncing from the walls and coming to the microphone later and at lower volume than the main voice. The more walls, the more echoes, so in effect, you're asking the software to remove the performer from herself. Koz

Re: Sub-ing in samples in place of recorded sounds?
I can sense you're probably looking for a one or two click solution, but the only way I know of to do that is import the song on the top track and the new beats on the second track. Both will play at once. Use the time shift tool and copy/paste to generate an extended track. If you want to substitut...
