Re: background noise on record

..a laptop that can make good microphone recordings.. Windows® laptop.... You didn't seem sure whether your microphone was USB or not. Did it have a large flat connector or thin round one like the one on the bottom? http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/RCAMiniStereo.jpg The flat one is USB, the round...

Re: 'Error while opening the sound device'

If it has two USB connections, then yes, one of them is sound. I need to read through the instructions. In that case, change the Audacity Preferences to 44100, 16-bit Stereo and try that. I gotta go.

Re: 'Error while opening the sound device'

I have two cousins of that one. You adapt your headphone output connection (or Stereo Line-Out if it has one) to the UCA-202 and then plug the USB connection into your computer. It should show up as a USB Sound Device and be available to Audacity using the Device Dropdown. Substitute the keyboard fo...

Re: Audaicity recording playing fast Win7x64/Audacity 2.0

We appreciate you hanging with us. This speed thing only affects a tiny number of people and only a tiny number of them sit still long enough for us to diagnose the problem. " 'K, That's nice. By!" and we never hear from them again. Audacity 2.0 is very new and has a number of new features...

Re: Cursor functionality needs dramatic improvement

I find that the time elapsed between my ear hearing the precise point, my brian reacting to that hearing, my brain sending a signal to my hand to stop moving the mouse, my hand reacting to that signal and actually stopping the mouse - I've missed the precise point. You've never watched a profession...

Re: Cursor functionality needs dramatic improvement

I don't remember Cool Edit doing that either, and I can fire up my license and try it when I get home. However, almost every video editor can do that and that's a function of the video frames. Video editors have a built-in timing reference and it's a snap to grab very well-defined segments of sound ...

Re: Audaicity recording palying fast Win7x64/Audaicity 2.0

Another way you can help us enormously is figure out exactly how fast. "The on-line clip plays in 3 minutes and in Audacity, it's 2:30." Koz

Re: Audaicity recording palying fast Win7x64/Audaicity 2.0

You may be the poster child for a speed problem we've noticed on some, but by no means all users. Any way you can record something "normal" like a microphone or plug your guitar into the sound card Line-In or something like that? Stay away from the recursive doubling-back sound pathways li...
