Re: Matching voice levels from a telephone recording
The guaranteed way is to use the envelope tool and jog the volume back and forth word by word, increasing during the far side words and reducing back to normal for you. You might try Chris's Compressor. That's a look-ahead broadcast compressor that does a very good job of evening out volume variatio...

Re: why are my wav files soo large?
not allowing me to upload the recording to the third party software anyideas? Which is? I'd be really surprised if any on-line service encouraged you to push uncompressed, perfect quality, WAV files. Everybody compresses and it doesn't make any difference if you can't edit the work later, because n...

Re: Best Vinyl Recording Method In Terms Of Sound?
Step one. Stop using a USB turntable. They are almost universally rubbish and may damage your disks. All the other considerations are a very distant second and third compared to that. Are you planning on leaving your USB turntable to your kids? No? Are you planning on putting it in the trash the ins...

Re: Audacity crashes when opening already recorded Aiff
WAV files are recognized by both Mac and Windows and it's the Audacity default. I haven't used AIFF in years on either of my Macs. The only shortcoming is AIFF handles metadata better than wave. I think that's the only difference past some unimportant data structure issues. The musical quality is th...

Re: Inconsistent latency problem
Yes. Each device can have different Recording Latency, but they're not that far off from each other. I didn't check the built-in microphone. I know that one takes a different pathway. Do the hardware Recording Latency test multiple times one on top of the other and don't change anything . All the pa...

Re: Slow cursor with Windows 7
A pre-recorded audio file loads and displays normally, but on playback the cursor moves at approximately 1/100th normal speed; that is, it takes about 10 seconds to advance 100 milliseconds, and the sound is only static. You want to take that again? A pre-recorded audio file plays perfectly except ...

Re: Files always going corrupt
Which version of Windows do you have? Which virus protection do you have and is it up to date and working? How much room do you have on your hard drive and when was the last time you manually error checked and defragmented it? Are you trying to save the work to an external hard drive? Are you using ...

Re: Bad sound using Stereo Mix
Do both the red recording meters and the green playback meters jump when you make a recording? Do you have Playthrough selected in Audacity Preferences? Koz
