Re: Syncing PAL AUDIO with NTSC VIDEO? (I think)
Can Change Tempo work with that small an error? 1000/1001 is not a very big error and it produces a correction value that never comes out even. I think it's far better to find out which tool is assuming the wrong framerate and fix it there. My first pick is FFMpeg. I seem to recall someone complaini...

Re: Automatic noice removal
Yes, you are listening to the computer housekeeping, either the power supply or something else internal. When I am not recording and listening to myself with monitors, sound is cristal clear, but if I run any recording software - there comes the noise. That's not enough words to explain what you're ...

Re: Assigning Macintosh Function Keys
Assigning an effect to a shortcut key is an Audacity Product Request. There is one other oddity. Audacity runs cross platform, so it tends to really like keys that appear in Linux/Mac/Windows.

Re: Help! Recording levels!!
Let me predict the past. You connected either the HiFi jacks or the Headphone Out of the cassette machine to your WinXP Laptop Mic-In. Those two systems were never intended to be connected like that. As you noticed, that produces terrible overload and crunchy sound and you can't stop it. There is no...

Re: Syncing PAL AUDIO with NTSC VIDEO? (I think)
Ignoring the frames for a second because they're really close that's 3924 seconds for the longer one. Converting using 24.000 to 23.976 (1000/1001) gives you 3920 which is your other number. So one of your systems was running at 24 and the other at 23.976. I was an elf on the FCP Pro forum for years...

I'm pleased you are willing to stay around and work with us. Some posters just say "that's nice" and we never hear from them again. I have to drop in and out, I'm at work but we don't often lose a poster.

Re: Increasing the volume of one voice in a recorded call
Envelope Tool is how to do it word by word through the whole conversation. It's not a 'push one button and go home' solution. It's weeks of work. There's no good way past that to even out a phone call, or any show where one voice is almost gone. That qualifies as a bad capture and you get to start o...

Re: Copy Protected Tapes?...
Get a short stack of brand-name disks from the local Office Supply store. Sony, TDK, Maxell. anything with a name you recognize. Do Not buy anything with the phrase "Hi Kuality" or "HQ Rated" in the title. Then reduce the burning speed. Almost anything is better than "Highes...

You may be working too hard. Noise Removal uses one profile until you change it (as I understand the process). So it's: Get Profile. Apply. Apply. Apply. Apply, etc. Someone will drop in and tell you how to save the profile or what files to copy. I don't know, but I think it's possible. However, I t...

Re: Bad sound using Stereo Mix
...there does not seem to be any type of effects that are applied during recording. Doesn't have to be. Remember, you're playing the work normally and running the record side at the same time to capture it. Both pathways at once and all the effects both directions are in the loop. Does Stereo-Mix m...
