Re: Microphone Set??
That's what's crazy about this. You not only have to analyze your current show, but the future show you might want to do. The USB microphones like this one... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/samsonGTrackConnections.jpg Are pretty much perfect for the one-horse podcast, but are completely unex...

Re: Bad sound using Stereo Mix
Question for WB1, Does your problem computer have a Stereo Line-In or only Mic-In? http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/windowsRecording.html Scroll down to Connections. Here's the proposal, assuming a normal laptop without a stereo Line-In, and also assuming that the drivers go all the way to analog ...

Re: Bad sound using Stereo Mix
Here's where I would kill to have a vectorscope and I'm this close to dragging out my scope to watch, but two of the serious problems with the damaged capture are the lack of separation and frequency boost in the middle. Very much like you're recording the show with a poor single microphone instead ...

Re: "Stereo Mix" is missing
To get the recordings back, you'll have to actually be running WinXP, not just have the files. If you've been through the wikis and instructions, you know that some newer machines can't record internet music at all and that's the way it is. You're only solution is Total Recorder on Windows, for exam...

Re: Make a voice sound younger
I couldn't find the answer to this. We couldn't, either. Changing People is extraordinarily difficult bordering on impossible. Small Child into an Announcer, Man into Woman, etc. We've gotten requests for all of them. There may be some very high end $oftware which can do that, but not Audacity. If ...

Re: Recording length and positioning errors
Do you have Snap To: selected down at the bottom of the window? In that same section, so you have hours, minutes and seconds selected and not one of the specialized timing techniques like CDDA? When I record an audio clip By singing into a microphone? Describe exactly what the show is, what are you ...

Re: Recording vinyl-records to hd.. How do you do it?..
If you can't force it to work with the USB connection, you may be able to use the analog connections. Look on the bottom and see if there are two RCA connections down there and a switch. The switch is to provide "raw" cartridge signals and in that case you would need a "Phono Preamp&q...

Re: Recording vinyl-records to hd.. How do you do it?..
A properly working ION turntable appears like a USB Sound Device to the computer. You go into the Sound Devices available to your computer and select either Generic USB Sound Device or ION Sound Device and start recording. However, Nobody would be shocked to find you have a dead or misbehaving turnt...

Re: Record and listen to another audio file on H/D similtane
There's enough question for you to go and try it. You can deselect Playthrough in Audacity Preferences and that should give you a silent recording, that is, the speakers will be silent. As long as you have the bouncing red recording meters, you should be getting a capture. Of course, all this is giv...
