Re: Audacity 2.0 Does Not Work on Windows XP Virtual Machine
I can visualize the other elves cringing at what you're trying to do. Audacity has a hard enough time running on an unconditionally stable, single computer. (2 instances of Audacity running on one machine essentially) Were you able to get that to work on more than one machine? I would say that earli...

Re: Sound in all other programs, but suddenly none in Audaci
None needed. I've read through this at least three times trying to keep all the circumstances and conditions in my head. I've spoken to SenorN in PM and said how pleased we were that he wanted to continue to troubleshoot this with us. He said he's willing. I tried the Speaker Volume Controls on two ...

Re: Audacity will randomly stop recording
Is it generally true that Audacity stops relatively quickly -- shorter than a minute? You know we're going to ask you all the usual questions, right? Do you have enough primary drive space for the work? Is your computer fast enough for multiple channels of live audio? Is your computer doing a millio...

Re: Playback noise problem
Win7 and I think Vista try to "help you" by processing your voice for conferencing. You generally don't want that for entertainment recording (singing, guitar, etc.) so you have to turn that off while you record.

Re: Vocals too faint...
I'm reminded to ask if you're using headphones. That's required with vocal overdubbing. If you're performing to speakers, you will never separate the music and the voice to change the mix. Koz

Re: Vocals too faint...
You're using the Overdubbing/Multitrack instructions, right? That gives you a music track and a separate voice track. You should be able to apply Effect > Amplify or one of the compressors to get your voice up loud enough. The other possibility, if you boosted your voice as far as you can, is to app...

Re: Recording Skype Convos on my podacst with Audacity 2.0
I'm going to be holding my iPhone up to my mic with speakerphone on. Hahah... Can this be done? Can you hold your iPhone up? Yes. That's probably the most reliable way to deal with Skype or live connection short of special software. Skype likes to take over the sound services of your computer (it's...

Re: Sound in all other programs, but suddenly none in Audaci
His, yes. That was checked in this message... http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=65958#p182009 Although SenorN didn't directly respond that it was turned up. That would be good. Also, Get SenorN to post the screenshot of a normal show. Mine was turned down when I closed Audacity....

Re: Sound in all other programs, but suddenly none in Audaci
I think it's time to involve The Developers. I launched Audacity 2 on my OS-X 10.6.8 Mac and turned the Audacity "Speaker Icon" slider down to zero. I got a very similar symptom to SenorN. I had bouncing meters and blue waves and no speaker sound at all. I closed Audacity like that and kil...

Re: MP3 Export Options for Absolute Best Sound Quality not c
I don't know that there is a good answer for you. Audacity uses the open source "lame" software product to do its work. We have to jump through hoops because MP3 is a registered, licensed, paid software product by Fraunhofer Gesellschaft. It's not free. Lame was designed as a work-alike pr...
