Mic-In on most computers is mono. The connection is such that you usually get Left and ignore Right. If you try really hard, you can get two Lefts at once. Ordinarily, reinstalling would be a delightful thing to do...except in Audacity. To "reinstall" audacity, you have to change a Preference file and leave Audacity.app where it is.

You can select the bitrate at export and I think the sample rate is set in Audacity Preferences. Koz
