Re: Sound in all other programs, but suddenly none in Audaci

Wouldn't that qualify as a bug? Unintentional undesirable behavior easily repeatable on more than one machine? Koz

Re: audacity as a profecional recording studio softwair

I do that upside down since my primary job isn't sound work like this. I do effects capture and "studio" voice work in Audacity and a laptop and transfer the work to the client or much larger audio or video editor. I'm more of a shoot it and lose it user, and yes I get paid to do this. I s...

Re: How to record with my Digital Piano?

That illustration is of a Behringer UCA-202 and that also gives you the ability to not only listen to the keyboard as you play, but do very high quality overdubbing, multi-track and sound-on-sound. Koz

Re: How to record with my Digital Piano?

The built-in USB interface allows for direct connection to a desktop or laptop personal computer. Enter the world of computer music and the Internet through one simple connection. I did look it up. That doesn't sound much like a MIDI connection, does it? "Computer Music" and "Interne...

Re: Sound in all other programs, but suddenly none in Audaci

I think that is probably expected (and I can replicate it too on Mac). It's intended (by the developers) that Audacity directly controls the output level of the sound device, and it usually will for an inbuilt device. Does your Mac sound come back after you close Audacity? On one machine it does an...

Re: brick wall low pass filtering

As you go through that, I can't help thinking about all the grief we go through to make stereo FM work. The audio show has to go up to 19 KHz (stereo pilot tone) and drop dead. Nothing past that and it usually means you have to start drooping at 17KHz in order to get a good dip at 19. But you can't ...

Re: Determine decibel levels at different frequencies.

It's possible to get the sample too small, too. It's not unusual for people to want to take a spectrum at one point on a song. Waves have to change to get any reading at all and they have to repeat to get a spectrum. You can't tell the arrival rate of waves at the beach unless you sit there and wait...

Re: Noise Removal 2.0

Steve has one, too. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=30996#p83859 Both the noise gates and the newer Noise Reduction try to recognize valuable content and route the correction around it. This allows much better reduction between the words, but worse reduction during them. A com...

Re: Noise Removal 2.0

until a decent balance was achieved Give me that again? You created a dry but noisy track and a corresponding corrected, but bubbly track and faded between them until you got a good show? Did you get that from printed instructions anywhere? I did notice that you could benefit from DC Removal. I amp...
