Re: Isolating Engine sounds in recording
rhythmic engine noises I'm going with no. The only tool we have that even comes close is the noise reduction tool and that only works with sound that doesn't change -- and that doesn't isolate anything -- although the newest one may. You're in the camp of people who want to take apart a band into i...

When you post back, include information on your computer. "Dell Dimension 500 Laptop," etc.

Re: Background power hum issue
This helped the hum...but it adds a crackle sound!! We go to great effort to avoid the "rescue" tools. A crackling usb hub may mean the hub is still receiving power from the computer, not wall power. Unplug the hub from the computer and the hub lights should stay on and not blink. Also, y...

Re: Unable to get my input level to 6db or less!
Brick and morter? I'd be googling the same as you. I think I got mine from Sweetwater Sound. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/UCA202 They have a retail store, too. I like Sweetwater because they always include Jujubes in the bottom of the packing case. http://www.blaircandy.com/jujubes24ct.htm...

Re: Suggest sound card for recording ~$200
...this device is no frills also it seems to me aimed at Mac users, people who give greater importance to the external design of a device and much lees to what is inside it and they pay much more for what is outdated too. Yes, there is that, but I don't need an external digitizer. Mine is built-in....

Re: Sound in all other programs, but suddenly none in Audaci
Does the recent flurry of responses answer your original question or do you still have outstanding issues that you need help with? I understand the computer is still silent when playing Audacity. We didn't solve a thing. I would love to figure out a way to split the system somehow. To change the sy...

Re: Behringer 202 or other USB input?
If you go back and read your post, all those steps are special and extraordinary. Me mum is not likely to take any of them and most people aren't either. The people saving their valuable work on not LOC CDs are going to be surprised when they don't play relatively shortly because of dye migration an...

Re: Behringer 202 or other USB input?
Trashing the originals would be a mistake since there is no good long-term digital storage. Koz

the record output on the mixer into the microphone input on my laptop. The Mic-In which is mono, not stereo, and very sensitive and prone to overload. Most Windows laptops have no high-level stereo-in. I use the Behringer UCA-202 (or equivalent) to provide the missing stereo connections. http://www...

Re: Input and Output on Macbook
Past trying to get yours to work, and I'm not willing to admit it's hopeless, yes, I wrote pieces of the overdubbing tutorial. There's a little voice in my head that keeps insisting if you can't get this to work, you may not be able to get any of the others to work either. They all run on basically ...
