Re: 4 headsets and a mixer

We were just congratulating ourselves; "Thank goodness he doesn't want to involve Skype/Telephone/Cellphone." Me, the co-host and a caller from states away. D'Oh! We need to sit down and read through that. The grownups do this kind of thing with a mix-minus panel. The person on the cellpho...

Re: increase volume of mp3 file not created oneself

MP3 is a delivery format not a production format. It's the music that you put on your Personal Music Player and enjoy it and that's the end. MP3 gets small, efficient sound files for your music player by creating sound damage and then cleverly hiding it so most people can't tell it's there. The inst...

Re: How to create more than one track

I know the temptation to use MP3 for your music is terrific, but MP3 causes sound damage and should be avoided for any music production.

Re: How to create more than one track

Export your WAV file as you did before as a protection copy in case you mess something up. Set that aside. Then put a Label (Tracks > Add Label at Selection -- It's Command-B on a Mac) at the beginning of each song you want separated -- including the first one. Then File > Export Multiple and follow...

Re: can LEVELING help reduce steady background noise?

You may need two posts. One should be "clean" nose. Noise with nothing else going on like talking, music or barking. The second post should be a portion that you want to try and clean -- with the interview or talking.

Re: "Making Sound Come from Afar"

That's not casual echo. That's travel in an airplane and then a bus to go to a place that has echoes like that. Unless your script calls for that.... "Oh, John. How nice for you to propose to me at Echo Point." And any second we're going to hear from the poster to tell us what he actually ...

Re: "Making Sound Come from Afar"

On a Mac, you might have Effect > AUDelay and AUSampleDelay. Those are Apple's Audio Units and they are general tools for all to use. Is "far away" happening inside or outside? Outside doesn't have echo. There was a similar question on a video forum and many, many people posted all with co...

Re: "Making Sound Come from Afar"

(I had installed it for a simple M4a to mp3 conversion). Depending on how you're doing that, you can do a very credible job right inside iTunes. You can get far away effects by decreasing the bass a little with the equalizer tool and then adding a little echo with GVerb. GVerb is a little sticky to...

Re: I am only hearing white noise

What kind of microphone do you have, how is it connected and do you have it selected in the Device Toolbar? http://manual.audacityteam.org/help/manual/man/device_toolbar.html I assume you're speaking against a music bed and you're using the overdubbing or multi-track instructions to get there. http:...

Re: can LEVELING help reduce steady background noise?

All the leveling, volume control, compression and processing tools can actually make noise removal worse or more difficult. The only two that actually do anything valuable are Noise Gate and Noise Removal. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Noise_Gate Noise Gate tries to suppr...
