Re: Can you disable infinite dragging to the right of a wave

Unlike Koz, I'm ambidextrous It's not ambidexterity that's the problem. I live on the magnify keys during editing (on the left) and drag-selecting on the right. The very last step involves (in this scenario) trading places. I just got good at stopping dragging after the last sound and put up with i...

When I'm doing this full speed on the fly, Taking my hands off the mouse for two extra key clicks isn't worth it. Koz

Re: Burning a CD after recording streaming audio

How are you burning your CDs? Windows Media should let you play the whole disk as a preview before it fires up the laser. There's no excuse for burning, as we call them, beer mats or cocktail doilies. If Windows Media won't help you, free iTunes for Windows certainly will.

Re: Burning a CD after recording streaming audio

Yes. CD-R is write once, read forever -- or until the dye layer fades out, which it will eventually do. CD-R works by burning holes in a dye layer with a laser. The dye has similar characteristics to color photography. Once you put the holes in the dye, that's the end of the story. CD-RW works by an...

Re: Burning a CD after recording streaming audio

You should first get the basic process down with CD-R like you're supposed to, then try it with a CD-RW and see if it plays in your car. If it does, then you can do that forever -- or until the little magnetic domains wear out, or you scratch it. It's not that CD-RW isn't good for music. It's CD-RW ...

Re: audacity stopped replaying my recordings

We need you to flesh this out a little.

You got your microphone and Audacity working and recorded a song. Then you Exported it as a WAV music file and prepared to sing the next song and Audacity would not record anything. Did I get that?

Re: How to change pitch without creating echo?

you will notice the strong echo (reverberation). I don't. The second cut just sounds like the original pitched downward. There is compression damage on that sustained note about 2/3 of the way down, but you can cure that by not using MP3 any more. Do what we're doing. Start Over. Restart the machin...

Re: Missing 3dB of headroom when using "Line In" in mono mod

Have you tried it without the amp? Unbalanced-In on a desk is 10K. Most of our desks don't terminate the balanced lines and switch to 1.2K with Mic-In although I wouldn't try that. If you have a desk that insists on terminating the balanced lines in 600 or less, then, yes, there you're stuck.

http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg But that's not what's wrong. You didn't tell us anything about the laptop, but if it's Vista or Win7, you may need to turn off voice management and special effects. Let's start there. http://manual.audacityteam.org/help/manual/man/faq_rec...
