How are you burning your CDs? Windows Media should let you play the whole disk as a preview before it fires up the laser. There's no excuse for burning, as we call them, beer mats or cocktail doilies. If Windows Media won't help you, free iTunes for Windows certainly will.

You should first get the basic process down with CD-R like you're supposed to, then try it with a CD-RW and see if it plays in your car. Have you tried it without the amp? Unbalanced-In on a desk is 10K. Most of our desks don't terminate the balanced lines and switch to 1.2K with Mic-In although I wouldn't try that. If you have a desk that insists on terminating the balanced lines in 600 or less, then, yes, there you're stuck.
