Re: Exporting Problems

Is the disk full? Probably not, but it's worth looking. What is the exact filename you used for the failed project? Many people get nailed by trying to put dates in filenames. Slashmarks don't do well and many other punctuation marks don't, either. Upper and lower case letters, numbers, dash and und...

Re: Making mp3 Exports Smaller

I don't think we have "medium."
Oh, I see. It's under presets. But those are all variable bitrate. Koz

Re: Quick help with some audacity delay (Not the effect)

A word. Computers have two different delays, Recording Latency and Machine Latency. A Recording Latency error means you can sing in perfect time to an existing or beat track and the combined result plays off time, sometimes significantly. Audacity has the ability to remove that one in Preferences > ...

Re: Total Newbie is Lost!

They're different. MP3 is lesser quality than WAV and you get increasing, sometimes serious damage as you make an MP3 from another MP3. MP3 is a delivery format. The last thing you do before you post your music is make a small, compact MP3 for listening only. WAV is a very high quality sound format ...

Re: Total Newbie is Lost!

Maybe we should start over since you're digging yourself deeper and deeper. Open up one of the Projects and make sure it plays OK. Export the show as a WAV sound file [WAV (Microsoft) signed 16 bit PCM]. Look over to your labeling philosophy and call the new file anything you want, but remember, you...

Re: Recording levels question

As for the tapes that change over time, you may be able to make good use of a dynamic processor like Chris's Compressor. http://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plugin-for-audacity/ It will try to follow the overall loudness of the show and adjust as you go similar to a radio stati...

Re: Total Newbie is Lost!

The aup file and the _data folder make up an Audacity Project. Double click the aup file and it should gather up the _data folder and its contents, launch Audacity and open the show. The aup and the _data folder must be in the same place or folder to open. It's technically not recommended, but you c...

Re: Quick help with some audacity delay (Not the effect)

When you're just sitting there with no Audacity, your machine is set to turn your input straight around to the output with little or no processing. When Audacity gets in the act, Audacity is doing the management which means now the sound is one computer late. This is happening in Audacity Preference...
