Re: Ugly waveforms
Yeah. Once you went through that whole multi-computer dance, we're going to jump on it right away. What was common? What did you take with you through all the recordings? It's a very serious problem that you can't hear the guitar through an amplifier. If you have a bad guitar cord and the shield is ...

Re: Ugly waveforms
Can you try a recording with the laptop on batteries -- not connected to the wall? The sound adapter uses the power from the USB connection, right? It does not use a wall power adapter? If the buzz goes away, you might have a power supply problem or it's remotely possible it's plugged in backwards? ...

Re: 4 headsets and a mixer
I like Sweetwater. http://www.sweetwater.com/ They have a good selection and their web site has magnifiers and terrific illustrations. You can muck around in the user manual forever, or you can look at the exploded view of connector panel on the back of the unit and see if all the connectors you nee...

Re: Unable to open target file
I have recorded a project with two tracks Just to clear this, you have two tracks left to right, or two tracks one above the other? If they're one above the other, MP3, as I understand it, doesn't support multiple stereo track export. But WAV does. File > Export > Other Uncompressed Files > Options...

Re: Audacity Stops Working While Exporting
It's a 3 TB drive, segmented into smaller, logical drives. That's not a solution. That's a problem. That gives you two isolated drives each with half the speed of one. That's terrific for spreadsheets and Photoshop pictures, but terrible for entertainment editing. It doubles the failure rate and if...

Re: Removing Bass?
Did you try to record a rock concert from the audience? The problem with those is the bass notes overload the mic, the preamp channel or both. There isn't any quality back there to reveal. While the bass note is overloading, all the other notes and instruments vanish. So when you do pull the bass ou...

Re: Heavy output distortion w/Audacity 2.0.1?
Did you actually reinstall, or did you pull the application out and put it back in fresh? Reinstalling Audacity involves editing a config file. http://manual.audacityteam.org/help/manual/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#reset Do you have one of the recursive pathways established like you do wh...

Re: Audacity on an ssd
It's a bit of a paradox that everyone wants SSDs because they read/write so fast, but then don't want to use them for read/write activity. We use a solid block of SSDs to play movies to clients in real time. The movie theaters use compressed video and shortcuts and, of course, you do at home, too, ...

Re: Audacity Stops Working While Exporting
Oh, there is one more. Under certain circumstances Audacity will try to save music in the Applications location. Are you pointing Audacity to a specific, correct, graceful location? Koz

Re: Audacity Stops Working While Exporting
Assume you're watching it the instant it dies. What does the screen look like? I'm not on windows, but do you get a crawling worm or thermometer as a progress bar? Can you see the hard drive light at the same time? Does that suddenly go nuts just as the export fails? It's not likely, but possible th...
