Re: Input Help

Particularly in Win7, there are more and more computers that just don't have that service at all and you have to add software or hardware to get it to work. Koz

Re: LP Rip with Distortion at the end of side one

It's feedback and I'm pretty sure nobody's going to argue with me. Somehow in the system you got the input service and the output "talking" to each other giving a continuous loop. If you have enough delays or latencies in the system, it won't sound like screaming or howling of normal bar o...

Re: automatic selection/trimming

I think that's a little too granular for the Audacity Chains system. Chains is the batch system and it's pretty basic. You're looking for tools that sense voice and then calculate new cursor locations, launch an edit, etc. etc. I think that's beyond us, but others may know more.

Re: Enhance skype recordings

You may be able to get some mileage out of the equalizer tool. Telephone voices intentionally punch the area around 3000 because that's where you ears work best for intelligibility. It's what is widely called "telephone voice." You can apply an inverse curve and get rid of a lot of that hi...

Re: Help me, please

Are you trying to record your voice while listening to music? That's overdubbing or multitrack. We wrote a nice instruction page for that. One of the first things on the page is to make a recording without the music. Are you able to do that? Did you play the music yourself? Select Audacity > Prefere...

Re: Total Newbie is Lost!

Reading the FACs left me clueless, but then I finally found a Youtube video whiich explained that you just use the mouse to highlight the parts of the track you want to delete or modify! That was so simple, but I don't think the FACs told me. Can you post the address of the video here so we could s...

Re: Hold the cursor in the center of the display

Redrawing the cursor moving is significantly more efficient in graphic effort than moving the waveform in real time. That's also one reason the waveform updates in even frames when you're recording instead of smoothly scrolling. It's a lot easier to write one picture to the screen every five seconds...

Re: How can I contunuously record the last hour of audio onl

You can set up Audacity to start and stop. What you can't do is play and record different segments at the same time. Particularly if you happen to be recording on-line NPR, where you already have the play and record channels of your computer running and doing something else. If you interrupt either ...

Re: cassette to CD conversion

Yes, although Silence Finder is not the greatest gift. Tapes and vinyl have no silence. Anyway, yes, put a label at the Front of each song you want to appear in your CD. Don't leave out the first song. My shortcut key for that is Command-B, yours will be something else. Tracks > Add Label At Selecti...
