What's the show? Are you singing?
Are you performing into a microphone and which one? How is it connected and to what computer?
Do you have Playthrough selected?

Re: Digital sounds and squelches
The machine thinks your show is "background noise" and is trying to suppress it. It's part of Windows conferencing, although they don't call it that. http://manual.audacityteam.org/help/manual/man/faq_recording.html#enhancements The Mic-In of your laptop is not only very sensitive and pron...

Re: Fit Vertical
It may do the whole thing.Doesn't this accomplish at least part of what you are asking?
Again as in an earlier post, I'm recovering from a system crash in the middle of a complex edit, so it may take a bit to get that far.

Re: No Feedback From Mic in Stereo/Mono Mix
Is there some setting I'm missing... Yes. Audacity will not record both sides of a Skype call. On Windows machines, you can use Pamela Business or Professional (not the other two) or Total Recorder. There was another one, too. Skype Recorder?? There was also a YouTube video from someone who claimed...

Re: How Do I Convert MP3 to WAV files?
It probably says that because they're not MP3s. Audacity opens MP3s just fine, but it may have trouble with other higher compression or modern formats. Try installing the FFMpeg software. http://audacityteam.org/download/ You might also tell Windows to stop hiding the file extensions so you can see ...

Re: Mysterious interuptions on recording
We seem to have missed one in that list. Don't go through a USB hub with anything else. It's perfectly valid to put a wall-powered USB hub in line with a microphone or other USB device in order to extend its working distance. Each USB cable is now able to go full distance, effectively doubling the c...

Re: Fit Vertical
When I work with multiple tracks, a lot of what I do is aligning using the Time Shift Tool, and cutting and pasting using the Selection Tool. That's exactly what's happening to me. When I add a new track, I'll want to shift it into position immediately. It's not helpful when the track mounts somewh...

Re: First Time Setup
Yes, that would be the simplest way to go, but be aware that it is painfully basic. You can't reach over and turn it up a little or make other corrections. Everything has to be done in Audacity or other audio program in post production. Audacity has no real-time controls. Almost more important, you ...
