Re: echo/feedback
It's also possible you're recording from the wrong "device." If you like recording internet audio, you'll be recording from a "fake" digital device like Stereo-Mix, or What-U-Hear. You need to change that to a real device in the Device Toolbar or Audacity Preferences to Mic-In or...

Re: echo/feedback
This specific problem is probably traced back to Windows Enhanced Services. http://manual.audacityteam.org/help/manual/man/faq_recording.html#enhancements It's there to help with conferencing and it's default on the microphone services. It can drive music nuts. However, You are recording a stereo sh...

Re: Reaching for Highest Quality possible in Audacity
Actually, no. The original question was... the Highest Quality possible in Audacity. But nobody can resist blowing that out to the uselessness of making Audacity perfect and leaving the rest of the system a mess. To specifically answer you, Audacity defaults internally to 32-bit floating format and ...

Re: Splitting audio tracks
Could I take the two voices and make seperate tracks for them? No. Unless the original duet was ping-pong -- she was on the left and he was on the right, there's no way to split them apart in Audacity. You would think you would be able to split them by voice, hers is higher than his, but that doesn...

Re: Reaching for Highest Quality possible in Audacity
Thanks for that reference. Nobody claimed it was the best you could possibly do, but just the fact that many Windows laptops don't do this at all put this device directly in the sweet spot of price/quality. It also appears in the Multitrack/Overdubbing tutorial as one of the devices which will manag...

Re: Steps 4, 7 and 14 of the Audacity Guide.
I would not have posted my email address. We get a great many bulk mail harvesters and you may find your address unusable. Is your I/O device listed in Windows Control Panels? If Windows can't find it, Audacity can't, either. Also, Audacity has two places to select devices, the Device Toolbar on the...

Look to the bottom of the work window and make sure "Snap-To" is turned off.

Re: Converting a stream to a file
You can capture the stream (in real time) and save it as a file. Streams are intentionally prevented from bulk downloading (as a rule), so you can't get an hour show in eight seconds. This is also assuming the show isn't available as a podcast which is far easier to deal with than live capture. http...
