Re: Weird problem while making acapella...
I can easily make an acapella with a song that already has an instrumental version of it, but it does not work when I make my own instrumental track with vocal removing. Do you actually make that work, or you're just assuming it's going to work? It's very difficult to get exact cancellation of the ...

Re: Weird problem while making acapella...
Vocal Removal is a simple arithmetic process. Subtract left from right and the lead singer usually drops out. Vocal isolation is not. There is no combination of subtractions and additions that results in the singer by himself. The problem is, the result of Vocal Removal isn't a stereo show. It's a m...

Re: Recording Mono vs. Stereo with one USB Mic
That's the left-brain engineer. The right-brain creative type always delivers a single voice performance as a stereo (two-track mono) track to a client because I know the performance is almost invariably going to be mixed into a stereo show. Yes, it's perfectly possible for the editor to deal with m...

Re: Adjusting input volume for USB turntable
Oops. Missed that. Yes, USB systems tend not to have adjustments and everything works perfectly until you need one. You can fix it in post production. That is probably one of the steps in the Vinyl to CD tutorial. http://manual.audacityteam.org/help/manual/man/tutorial_copying_tapes_lps_or_minidiscs...

Re: when to normalize a song
Ah. We wrote a lot of good stuff on how to do this. http://manual.audacityteam.org/help/manual/man/tutorial_copying_tapes_lps_or_minidiscs_to_cd.html By far the best thing you can do for 78s is play them with a 78 stylus and at the right speed. a 33-1/3 needle will sit on the bottom of the grooves a...

Re: Adjusting input volume for USB turntable
The instructions say that low volume can be caused by the analog connections being set wrong. Are you using both analog and USB connections? Does the turntable work with the Sound Forge Audio Studio LE that came with it?

Re: when to normalize a song
What are you calling a "song?" Something you downloaded, or something you just sang?

Re: Audacity sucking up all available CPU time
Yes, that's not easy to do. Do you get good clear recordings? Can you share with us?How are you recording the telephone calls exactly - is it a USB recording device?

And just to be clear, this isn't the final solution. It's a test. Did you speak the spoken word? Koz

Re: Stutter on exported mp3 format
No. That should have worked. Does the show play correctly in Audacity? No distortion or other problems? Export a portion of the show as WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit PCM format and try that. Koz
