Re: Adjusting input volume for USB turntable
You didn't say which Mac you have, but all but the newer ones have a very good stereo analog input. That's how I digitize all my old vinyl. Conventional turntable > Hafler preamp with phono preamplifier > directly into the Mac Stereo Line-In. Terrific work. If you already have a top quality music/tu...

DELL Lattitude 620 This will be painful because it's apparently a discontinued laptop. That and the only description I was able to find wasn't detailed at all. Two problems. This is billed as a "Business Computer" and those rarely come with high-level stereo inputs. What is the audio conn...

Re: Freezing on playback
The theme that runs through this thread is "I've been doing this for years..." Have you filled up your hard drive? Audacity will not run into a full drive nor a highly fragmented one. These problems fairly scream running out of elbow room. "I can delete some portions and the problem w...

Re: file size of audio file after exporting
If you started out with a highly compressed MP3 or A4F and edited down to a small fraction, but exported it as an uncompressed WAV, the edit could actually be bigger. You also need to know that Audacity does not edit MP3. It converts MP3 to a very high quality internal format and edits that. It then...

The _data folder needs to be in exactly the same location or folder as the aup file and it has to have exactly the same name. Open the AUP file in notepad or wordpad and read the first few lines.

a large conference room We can't take out echoes and reverb. That's one of the ways to kill a show (#1). You are also flirting with #2. -- The Four Horsemen of Audio Recording (time tested ways to kill your show) -- 1. Echoes and room reverberation (Don't shoot the show in your mom's kitchen.) -- 2...

Re: Possible to Compress/Limit Input Signal?
Live recording is still one of the holdouts in the automatic audio world. There isn't one setting that will record everything, although there are laboratory amplifiers and digitizers that will do that, they don't produce an entertainment quality music file. What happens when you set your recording f...

Re: Stutter on exported mp3 format
Another thing you might try is pulling the MP3 back into Audacity and see if it plays.

Those are the only tools we know of manage Vocal Isolation and they don't have a good track record, so you're as far ahead. Instrument Isolation from a mixed show is pretty much impossible. There's no shortage of people who want to do that. You can tell it's a horn, but the software has no intellige...

Exporting two or more tracks of what? You singing? Vinyl capture? Are you Exporting multiple files or one file with multiple tracks top to bottom? Are you exporting WAV, FLAC, MP3, M4A? How are you playing the work? Windows Media, Personal MP3 player? Do they still sound like that if you bring them ...
