Audacity crashing is very different from the machine crashing around Audacity. If you're are really using Audacity 2.x and the show didn't come back, then there may not be a show there to come back to.
Any idea why the machine failed?

Or do the waves smash all the way up and down like this...

Re: Generate starts its own track.
It's been a little scattered and I've been on vacation, sorry, holiday. I suppose, and I understand nothing about this ls life threatening, pop a dialog box: Start a new track [ ]? Or make it part of the existing dialog for, for example, what kind of noise do you want, etc. etc. As above in the disc...

Wait. Other end of what? KozMy issue now is that the audio quality on the other end isn't top drawer, and it's too bassy.

Re: Audacity hanging when selecting audio segments
When OS-X starts a process, it publishes an expected time to completion. If the process unexpectedly takes longer than that, you get the SBBOD, Spinning Beach Ball Of Death. If the process is expected to take a long time, you get the crawling worm thermometer. So something very serous is wrong. I di...

Re: Audacity hanging when selecting audio segments
Why did you do that? More memory? Faster Processor? The computer I'm using is a Mac Pro, as was the computer I replaced it with. All I did to switch over, was pull my hard drives from the old MP and inserted them into the new MP since the drive sleds were the same.

Re: Audacity hanging when selecting audio segments
When I launch Audacity I get the beachball for about :20 seconds. Is that normal? No, it's not. If you open a Project which doesn't have local sound, it should launch in seconds. I think I tested opening an hour off-air recording a while back and it appeared in four seconds. Could I have permission...

It's possible you're using legacy Audacity Preferences, never a good idea. Scroll down in this page to see how to reset Audacity.

Re: Transferring my LP's but Audacity slo-mo's the music!
Here's a note from another web site.
KozI do a bit of recording and usually bounce my tracks to 16bit WAVs because Windows Media Player doesn't support 24bit WAV out of the box and I couldn't find the right codecs.

Re: Transferring my LP's but Audacity slo-mo's the music!
It may be as simple as Windows doesn't support 24-bit. I'm looking for notes we made on this. There is one note of interest. We only get complaints from people using top end equipment trying to do advanced bit-rate captures and production. The people doing plain vanilla processing sail right through...
