Re: Input Channel Select Audio Recording FA-66
Dig into Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound and see what you have there. Audacity will be able to see whatever appears. If there is a software package for Macs, you should should load it and see if that helps. Audacity will manage up to 16 tracks of sound if it's presented correctly. Most...

Re: HELP ME PLEASE I'VE LOST EVERYTHING
Audacity cleans up after itself if it senses you're finished with the show. Unlike Windows, Mac OS-X is a Unix-based operating system and doesn't have an "old work" or "previously owned" hierarchy. Once the file space isn't being used for anything valuable, it gets stepped on alm...

Re: -26 dB mic level readings at dead silence [?]
I forgot to note: AND that's with the mic (switch on the mic) off! Does the mic switch just mute the microphone or actually take it off-line? It appears like all it does is mute. I have two of these: http://www.startech.com/Cards-Adapters/Sound/USB-Audio/USB-20-to-Audio-Adapter~ICUSBAUDIO One has a...

Re: Redline *Lagging* the music?
No, it will be fixed at Christmas when you get the computer with double the horsepower and hard drive space. Then it doesn't matter which Audacity you have.

Re: noise removal doesn't remove noise!!!
Noise removal has some pretty prickly ideas of what noise is. It's not just "anything I don't like." "Noise" has to be constant during the whole show and somewhere during the show, there has to be a short time where the show stops but the noise doesn't. That's the segment you use...

Re: Combining Recordings From Two Devices
One easy, non-electronic way around this is to provide sync points. "2:30PM, Mark" and clap once. That gives you a concrete sync point to go back later and match things up again. You'll figure out the drift rate and how often you need to do that. On a motion picture shoot using film, this ...

Re: Sound activation
It appears from the post you want to turn Sound Activation off and straight record? Record everything until I hit stop? Isn't there a selector for that in the Sound Activation panel?
It's possible it's broken. That has happened.

There isn't enough information in that post for us to tell what you're trying to do. One sentence: "I'm trying to record my vinyl to CD."

Re: Stereo Channels, partial normalizing
Yes. Split Left and Right with the tools on the left drop-down, and then apply amplify (or any tool) to one track or the other. Did you try Normalize, Independent? You might like it. Amplify does the one absolute peak in the whole show and Normalize one or two peaks -- you select. Neither of them ch...

Re: Can +5v from a smart phone mic jack damage an Aux Send?
Someone else posted about wanting to do a complex podcast and, of course, wanted to do telephone interviews on top of it. We found a device which properly isolated all the ins and outs but down near the bottom of the device comments was that many cellphones provide "sidetone," in English: ...
