Re: Making volumes equal
You killed yourself when you merged the songs. Both Amplify and Normalize work on the whole song. You'd be closer had you normalized each ahead of time. However, you can drag-select each song on your timeline and apply Amplify or Normalize to each segment. Please know that both of those tools are si...

Re: Unable to record/overdub multiple tracks
So what you really did was reinstall Windows, or "Stepped Back" Windows to First Birthday, right? Why did you feel a need to do that? That's a very serious step.re-booted my laptop (which runs on Vista) to factory settings.

You're going to have to ask that again and use different words -- or more of them. I almost banned you from the forum by accident because your post didn't make sense and included a link. These are symptoms of spam. Koz

You selected Waveform DB in the drop-down menu on the left. Select Waveform and the normal +1 to -1 should come back. Koz

Re: waveform problem
Did the scale go from +1 to -1? You may have the magnifier turned on by accident. Hover in the vertical scale just to the left of the blue waves. The cursor will turn into a magnifying glass. Press Shift and click and the waves should shrink. The natural point is +1 on top and -1 on the bottom. http...

Re: Recording in Audacity

Re: Recording error
If you press Stop and then Record again, does the same problem happen again after a couple of tracks, or once it starts making trash, it stays that way?

Re: device failure
If I can boil down all that to one problem, You plug the cassette machine in and your speakers drop dead? That's a setting in Windows Preferences -- or Audacity Toolbar. When modern Windows machines see a new USB sound connection, they naturally assume that the sound should come from, and go to the ...

Re: Why am I getting a delay from the line in from my guitar
Are you on a Windows laptop? The Mic-In on most Windows laptops is mono, so the best you can do is Left-only and that connection is very easily overloaded. It's a better than even chance you're going to get distortion in addition to missing Right. To get stereo, you can add a USB sound device adapte...
