Re: New install, no sound on anything

Start > Control Panels > Sound. I'm making that up because I don't have a Win7 machine. Make sure your Windows thinks it's supposed to be playing sound to your speakers or sound card and not that USB turntable you plugged in. Mine says "Realtech AC97 Audio" because I think that's my sound ...

Re: Reducing Harshness of Booming Vocals

You're not working from a script are you? There's a Hollywood thing about repeatability. Anybody can blow up a car. The good pyro people can make it land where you want after it blows up. The Hollywood people can blow it up again seven more times, exactly the same way. We need you to change one word...

Re: Reducing Harshness of Booming Vocals

I noticed as I was ripping down through the piece that if I tightened up the pauses and gaps, you have at least one sentence that goes on with a single thought for about 45 minutes without taking a breath. It's not that bad, you get what I mean. Since I'm following along in my head, I started wantin...

Re: Surface Noise

If you try something else and it works terrifically better, please post back and say so. Trying to rescue sound from a cassette is a challenge. The aup file isn't sound. It's an Audacity Project Manager -- it's a program. If you want to send music or a test to somebody, File > Export > WAV. Here's i...

Re: 'About' Greyed-Out

I believe the party line is to abandon whatever you have in favor of the latest Audacity 2.0.1 from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/ Get the "lame" and FFMpeg from the same place. Don't reuse the old software. If you went as far back as 1.2, that software can be unstable with the ...

Re: Voice Recording Quality

Do you have a grandfather clock in the room? Anything that could cause that rhythmic ticking sound? Most of the problem is still room noise. You sound like you're recording in your mom's kitchen with the echoes and all that stuff going on in the background behind you. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audac...

Three of these didn't come with Audacity. Koz

Re: Is there a VST "mega pack" available for download?

I'll just take them all out again and put them back in a few at a time until I narrow it down.
You would think, but they get installed in the folder according to alphabetical priority along with the other effects making it something of a challenge to sort them.
