Re: Latency and overdubbing!

I did the Latency Test and set a new value and it seems to have no effect. That's unusual. Go back into latency settings and pick an arbitrary absurd number and see if it follows you. Restart Audacity between the setting and testing and see if the new value "stuck." And we are talking abo...

Re: Audacity data folder keep getting bigger

Audacity has to save UNDO information. If you apply a filter or effect to the whole show, it has to save the entire old show. You need a very serious computer to manage a 12 hour show. If you're worried about 3GB, maybe this isn't that computer. Break up the show into 2 or 3 hours segments and manag...

Re: How Do You Compress MP3s

Without finding out any more about the show, the first step is installing the "lame" software from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/ That will allow Audacity to export to the MP3 format. When you get to the end of your show capture or production in Audacity, Tracks > Stereo Track t...

Re: Reducing Harshness of Booming Vocals

I think what's driving us crazy is you pausing in unnatural places or in the middle of a thought. That's very awkward to listen to and it sounds like you forgot the words. Did the client tell you to do that? Do they know you're doing that? Can we assume that anyone listening to this can rewind it an...

What are you performing? If you're trying to play a trombone into a Yeti, you may have to make other arrangements. The instructions tell us to adjust the Windows Control Panels. 3. From the control panel, select the “Sound” icon. 4. Select the “Recording” tab. Select the “Yeti Stereo Microphone” fro...

Re: High pitched noise when turning mic on + buzzing noise

Enhanced Services are for video conferencing. You should turn that off right away. Stereo Mix is used to record internet audio and can destroy a straight musical recording. Select your actual microphone or soundcard for personal recording. That should take care of the whistling and feedback. You can...

Re: how do i databend/mosh

Export your music Microsoft WAV, 48000, 16-bit Stereo. That's default PCM video music format.

Change the sample rate with the little window lower left of Audacity. It probably defaulted to 44100 unless you changed it.

Re: Removing noise from recorded audio

You can try the Audacity Vocal Removal (karaoke) tool. Effect > Vocal Removal. That tools requires a perfect quality stereo show to work, and that the singer have no stereo special effects added to the voice. The microphone in most if not all camcorders is an electret condenser. Condenser microphone...
