Re: Is this Acx sample up to technical standard please?

Is there a natural way to address the crispness and piercing you hear Like dropping a flannel rag over the microphone? Not that I know of. The makers build in the effect in such a way that it's rough to remove. If you do anything wrong, the voice becomes muffled and dull. The object is carefully re...

Re: HOW TO COMPRESS AN MP-3 VOICE-OVER FILE,SO I CAN SEND IT BY E-MAIL.

Using MP3 or any other compressed files in production is not recommended. Their sound quality gets worse and worse as you edit. Use WAV or uncompressed/lossless filetypes and send through a file sharing service (DropBox??) rather than email. If you're sending a simple voice file, use Mono (one blue ...

Re: Submitting an ACX Audition for your own book

I think I got it.

https://www.acx.com/audiolab

I'll dig around in there a bit later. I like their optimism:
make sure your sound meets our submission requirements every time.
Unless you can't read out loud. Then that's a problem....

Re: Submitting an ACX Audition for your own book

I followed the amazon login system and I'm at the Playground page. I don't see "Audiolab." Audiolab-Playground.png Does the analysis only appear after you have an ACX account? Do you have more 'things' on that page than I do? I did find several places that reference the reader already havi...

Re: Is this Acx sample up to technical standard please?

Both pass the technical standards checks, but in my opinion they're a little too crisp and piercing. "AliSS felt thiSS could not be denied." Screen Shot 2020-07-28 at 4.35.01 PM.png That little haystack between 3500 and roughly 8000 (along the bottom) should not be there. That produces the...

Re: Microphone placement for Acx audiobooks?

Before you do that.

That's not useful. It's far more valuable if you post a clean, dry, raw reading. Don't do anything to it.

Re: ACX Check processing but not providing "check" on longer recordings

Where are you in the production and publication process?

ACX has changed their acceptance process and made it much harder for new readers. Are you reading out loud a book I can buy on Amazon?

Re: ACX Check processing but not providing "check" on longer recordings

There's two ACX Checks. The legacy one had troubles with longer files. The new one is here.

Re: Lost File

so I clicked okay and the file closed. The Prompt closed. And then you closed the lid on the laptop or shut down the machine or put it to sleep? If it was a long show, it may have still been saving and had everything open when you closed the lid. Did the multiple saves all have the same show name? ...
