You never described the computer. Yes, all the other stuff can certainly impact the quality of the show. We don't have a good track record for "cleaning up" a sound track. By the time most people post, it's pretty much too late.

They're slightly different. Start Monitoring (or click once inside the red recording meters) turns the meters on so you can check levels, but it doesn't affect the sound routing. Playthrough affects sound routing but doesn't affect monitoring. Run them both to get the meters and the speakers. I gene...

Audacity project files (the .aup files) should always be accessed via File > Open.

And there is the possibility that your disk actually did fill up. Sound (and picture) files are really, really big. How long was the show? People get killed when they try to record 12-hour surveillance sessions.
